Avenue Road, Lymington /Opening Car Crash Scene –

This is my opening scene involving my main character and his family in their car travelling home in which the attention of the main character (The dad) will be lost therefore resulting in a car crash killing both wife and child. I have chosen this area as it is massive and stretches for over one mile and a half therefore allowing me to get all my filming within the car done without having to worry about sharp corner which could endanger my actors. This close to two mile straight also provides me with a quiet and safe area to film as this road is very far out in the forest meaning few travellers will be on the road therefore pulling over to talk to my actors will not endanger other pedestrians. Mise en scene wise this area is just massive and the effect I want to display is one of solidarity making my actor feel like he is alone now and he has lost everyone, therefore this vast flatland will serve perfectly to connote this effect. Also street furniture such as lamp posts don’t exist along this road therefore the engulfing darkness will increase this effect superbly connoting that the main character is really lost emotionally and physically.

Ringwood town is going to include a lot of scenes for my music video, as after the crash my actor will be wandering around as if he has lost everything that matters to him therefore I am going to have him aimlessly walking around the picturesque town of Ringwood. I have mainly chosen Ringwood as it is close and easily accessible for me and my production crew and actors but also because this town is a reasonable expensive place to live in the countryside which will connote to my audience that my main actor and family are middle to upper class and this will be key as I want my audience to feel like this father is just a kind and loving person who has his family at heart all the time and the success of moving to this town and his house will connote this brilliantly.

Carvers Park hosts a small but significant section of my music video; this is where my narrative music video intertwines with a performance style video. Here I will have my main actor walking past a busking band that are lip syncing to the song. I have done this purposely in this part of the music video to keep the audience’s attention and also to add more of homage to other kodaline music videos. This is because some Kodaline narrative videos don’t feature the band within it the story however they almost make cameo appearances within their own video by playing small performance parts. I plan on using this small recreational park as it is a rundown, poorly maintain therefore it really connotes the emotional state my main character is in. This is also a convenient place to film as it is rarely ever fully used allowing me to really take advantage of the whole park and gets all sorts of different angles of my characters. I plan on filming this section of the music video during the day in order for the run down effect of the park to really shine and come to the attention of the audience

Ringwood Graveyard is the will be the final location for my actor as he comes to terms with the death of his family. This scene will depict my actor supposedly planning on killing himself however instead he will turn up at the grave of his loved ones with flowers connoting that he has come to terms with this lose. I have chosen this graveyard as it close to home allowing for easy access and it’s a well maintain and very organised which therefore connotes the place the character as got to in the end of the music video. I won’t be filming any gravestones from the front in order to not be disrespectful therefore I will be using shots that suggest the character is related to these deceased for example modifying the focus and low shots from behind the grave.
