MUSIC VIDEO RECCE FORMS.

LOCATION 1: BOA TV STUDIO.• The BOA TV Studio is located at

Birmingham Ormiston Academy. A creative, digital, performing arts school for 14 – 19 year olds. The studio is suitable for my music video as this is where I attend school and is also where other shots within my video take place. It also contains high quality lighting and a green screen.

LOCATION 2: CITY LOCATIONS.

My city locations seen throughout my music video will be filmed in Birmingham, UK. This is because the shopping complex, local park and streets in general provide a perfect feel for the setting I want my main character to be seen in. The area is also local meaning filming can be easily arranged.

Have to rely on natural lighting. Can be a problem if the scene is due to be shot in high key lighting as filming will commence during the winter months. I will therefore organise another filming day if lighting isn’t what expected.

LOCATION 3: LOCATIONS AROUND BOA.

• I wish to film some scenes set in a typical high school setting. I am going to use Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) as my school location to film classroom scenes and dance sequences. This is because the academy is my sixth form so saves on travel and having to gain permission to film elsewhere.

LOCATION 3: LOCATIONS AROUND BOA.• AVAILABILITY:

Bright, modern, florescent lighting for most of the academy. No problems with the lighting.

LOCATION 4: HOME (TAMWORTH).I am filming some of my music video in and around the area that I live as if the protagonist lives there. I chose to film at my house as it is easier location wise and has the props needed to create the pictures I have described in my storyboard and script.

Tungsten lighting. Extra lighting can be available for more high key scenes, although most scenes at home will be dark and in low key lighting.

LOCATION 5: BARCLAYCARD ARENA.• The main change in narrative within the music

video is when the protagonist goes to a concert. I chose to film this at a Lady Gaga concert within the Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham. This is because the concert was in the genre of pop and had a lot of my target audience attending. This meant I could have relatable characters as background extras who are the same age as the main protagonist and the target audience. In addition, I knew a lot of the people going who would want to be an extra and I am doing my music video around a Lady Gaga song.

LOCATION 6: BARCLAYCARD ARENA.

Outdoor lighting may be a problem but will have to work around it and get best shots possible. Indoor lighting may also be a problem with concert lighting – will film majority before concert starts to get shots with the house lights on.

LOCATION 7: ABANDONED HOUSE.

• I wanted to capture some “individual” and different footage for my music video. I therefore wanted to film around an old, well visited abandoned house in order to create dark, indexical signs around the protagonist. The house has remained untouched since the 1970’s and is therefore interestingly stuck in time. The location will allow me to play around with vintage effects and create a music video and digipak with a difference.
