Promotional Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, recognised as the most successful musical artists ever. Originally he started out in the group Jackson 5 with his brothers; he was in the band for 20 years. After this he began his solo career in 1971. He continued with his solo career for 38 years until his death in 2009. However, his music continues to be listened to and bought on a huge scale. Even though Michael Jackson is now dead but his music is still being promoted. Before he died, he made a music video to accompany the Earth Song. It was very expensive and really well received music video which won a Grammy nomination for Best Music Video in 1997. This video appeals to many people across the world because it deals with an environmental theme showing images of animal cruelty, deforestation, pollution and war. Obviously since his death they can no longer promote or sell any concert tickets or new records but his name and music are being kept alive with new and differing promotions. Synergy Michael Jackson was signed to Motown records during his days with The Jackson 5, the group left Motown and later signed with CBS who then became Epic Records. The accompanying video and the time of its release (around Christmas time) ensured its success. The strength of the video with the many close ups of Jackson and the amazing animation of the world in turmoil proved to be a winner.
