The pictures above are relevant to the type of video because the pictures are all from videos that

are based on performance and narrative. I have done this because when I come to film my music

video the type of video is going to be performance and narrative. The music track I will be using to

base it on performance and narrative is; Read All About It by Professor Green ft. Emeli Sande. I can

do this because the lyrics have a very strong and structured feeling to make it into a narrative music

video but also followed by performance.

The music genre related to my music track that I am going to use in my music video is mixed

between R & B and Pop. These two genre’s work quite well with each other because they

mainly let the R & B dominate most of the song and then the Pop artist will mainly sing the

chorus. Therefore these two genre’s have to completely different stereotypes, for example in

R & B music they mainly show a rich and abused setting, but in Pop music videos they mainly

chose to make a narrative so they base there videos in a load of different cultures such as

South Africa to show how much they are suffering.

In my music video the setting is going to be based in a housing estate and the narrative side

of things will take over by telling a story about a young boy going through a hard time.

In my music video I am going to use a broad and wide range of cinematography technique’s.

As you can see in the slide before I have screenshotted as few photos of different camera

angle’s and cinematography techniques. The photo’s above show camera angles such as

close up shots, mid shots, low angle shots, two shots and a wide range shot. Some of these

camera techniques are the one’s I will try and use when I come to film my music video. To put

my self at quite an advantage I will need to use some camera equipment such as a tripod so I

can establish the low angle shot. Also in my cinematography use the camera movement is

going to become very fast paced and aggressive to match the tempo movement in the song

so it may move from fast to a more calmer pace when the song tempo starts to slow down.

The music artists that performed the music track “Read All About It” are called Professor

Green and Emeli Sande. The reason I chose this music track is because I am a fan of

Professor Green’s music. Anyway in my music video the characters are going to be stuck on

one specific race (White) but there age is going to be varied from an Adult in his 30’s and a

young boy whom is the age of 14. Also the gender is both male and female throughout this

music video mainly based on the female performer. I have chosen these types of characters

because it is kind of similar to the music video based on the song read all about it, therefore

the scene’s will be very different because there may be some graphic scene’s.

The setting in the music video is going to based in a middle class housing estate. As you can

see in the pictures above it shows a number of different times in one day, for example it

shows dusk in one picture. In this time of day I will have an singer performing and singing the

lyrics of the song, also followed by the background of the dusk to show a use of bright and

high saturated colours. Throughout most of the music video my plan is to quite a lot of

shooting inside the house to show all of there living conditions and how the young boy reacts

to the living conditions, mainly on how his parents treat him compared to all of his other

siblings. Also some of these settings could be quite graphic because he will be self harming

his self and destroying things that are quite precious to his family.

In my music video, I am not only going to focus on one key lighting effect. Instead I am going

to use multiple lighting effects such as back lighting, high key lighting, hard lighting and low

key lighting. The four lighting effects that I have just listed are mainly dull and dark lighting

effects, I have done this because the setting is going to be fairly dark when the singers are

performing and also when the boy arrives home late at night. Therefore I am going to use one

bright lighting effect and this is called high key lighting, this effect will be used to give the dusk

a very bright effect to make the set look a lot better.
