Music Analysis is a peer-reviewedacademic journal specializing in musictheory and analysis. It is based in Englandand published its first issue in 1982.Although the journal "is not produced onbehalf of a society, it is closely associatedwith the Society for Music Analysis."[1]
Its website describes Music Analysis as an"international forum for the presentation ofnew writing focused on musical works andrepertoires." It "is eclectic in its coverage ofmusic from medieval to post-modern times,and has regular articles on non-westernmusic. Its lively tone and focus on specificworks makes it of interest to the generalreader as well as the specialist."[1]
The journal's first editor-in-chief wasJonathan Dunsby. It is currently edited byWilliam Drabkin.
