The exhibition chronicles nearly eight decades of Marvel Entertainment and celebrates the 10th anniversary of Marvel Studios by tracing Marvel’s story and its influence on visual culture—including how it’s responded to historical events and addressed wider issues such as gender, race and mental illness—as well as uncovering the narratives of individual characters such as Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange. Rare comics and artwork showcase Marvel’s many heroes, including original art for Spider-Man’s origin story on special loan from the Library of Congress Detailed statues of Marvel’s beloved characters, like Spider-Man and The Thing, compliment the larger-than-life super hero narrative Interactives including photo ops with classic Marvel characters and a digital feature inside Tony Stark’s lab, where guests become transformed into the armored super hero, Iron Man.
