ARTISTS EXHIBIT The Group VIAJARTE (equiv. “TRAVELART”) aims to disseminate the group’s artwork through local au- thorities, government agencies or other entities that show interest in exhibiting the works of this group in municipal buildings, galleries and other cultural organizations. It is generally believed that most artists prefer to show their work in the big cities (even though many dis- tricts and small towns have excellent facilities and well-equipped showrooms and galleries) with the effect that enthusiasm for and participation in artistic initiatives of contemporary art in smaller rural and urban cen- tres is often diminished as a result. The members of the group VIAJARTE are long-term friends and former members of “Viragem – Associação dos Artistas Plásticas de Cascais” (1984 – 1992), who have once more come together to re-group and to exhibit collectively throughout Portugal, not only to show their work to the larger population, but also, to capture the attention and interest of artists working in the provinces where Grupo VIAJARTE exhibits. Fátima Ramalho

Born in Lisbon. Graduate of Decorative Painting at the Antonio Arroio School of Decorative Arts. Awarded a scholarship from the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, studying at the Julian Academy and later, with Bill Hayter at Atelier 17 (engraving).

FANNON Born in London, UK. Dip.AD. (Ealing Art College); MEd. St. Mary’s College, London. Head of Art, Design & Technology - St. Julian’s School, Car-cavelos and subsequently Business Manager and Executive Director for Resource Development (to 2011). Principal Examiner in Visual Arts for the International Bacca-laureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). IBDP Faculty member responsible for the Visual Arts Online Curriculum Centre (2000 to 2010) Accreditation Visit Leader for the CIS – Council of Interna-tional Schools. Lives and works in Cascais.

TERESA BLACK Born in Lisbon Resides in London from 1952 to 1970. Diploma in Fine Arts from "Slade School of Fine Art" (Painting and Design).

1955 Wins a scholarship for postgraduate studies. Works in ceramics in "Richmond Pottery" and "Silver Pine Pottery".

1960 Returns to Portugal in 1960, devoting several years to tapestry and collage, while main-taining painting as her main interest

1970 - 1974 Teaches painting.

Teresa Black has exhibited regularly in solo and in over 100 group exhibitions , She was a member of the direction of "Turnabout" and a founder member of the "Pythagoras" group which exhibited exten-sively throughout Portugal between 1988 – 90.

GUILHERME PARENTE

Born in Lisbon 1960s Studied painting with maestro Roberto Araujo at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon. Attended courses in en-graving at the Portuguese Engravers Cooperative Society in Lisbon. 1968-70 Studied at the Slade School in London, with a scholar-ship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Guilherme Parente was one of the “ 5 +1” group along with the sculptor Virgil Domingues and painters John Hogan, Julio Pereira, Sergio Pombo, and Teresa Magalhães. He is recognised as one of the foremost contemporary artists in Portugal and is represented in the collections of:

His work is exhibited extensively worldwide, his most recent solo exhibition being, "Journey to the Middle Empire" at the Orient Foundation in Macau, China (24th Jan. to 24th Feb. 2013).
