Escarpade
Our students of Murwillumbah East were proud
supporters of the Escarpade on Thursday. Our
whole school created a sea of students who waited
patiently for the colourful and noisy cars to arrive.
Students were very lucky and were given bags,
hats, stickers and treats from the supporters of
Camp Quality. It was wonderful for the students to
have a look at the cars and welcome the
Escarpade supporters.
MEPS students also watched a thought provoking
and highly entertaining puppet show about the
effects of cancer and the power of thinking
positively. All students enjoyed the show and the
morale of Camp Quality is “laughter is the best
medicine” and lots of laughter was had by all.
A big thank you to the families who made cakes for
our fundraising, the kids for their crazy hair and to
Rachel Hardie for organising this event. Our school
raised over $500 for Camp Quality. This is a
marvellous effort from students and our supportive
community.

Jayden’s Pigeons - 1-2C
Flutter, zoom, cool! Today Jayden brought in two
of his racing pigeons. We learnt some information
about racing pigeons, had a pat and then … It
was time to race them. They were very fast. I
asked how many pigeons Jayden has. He has
about eighty-eight pigeons. Jayden has blue
check pigeons and red check pigeons. He feeds
them, cares for them and trains them. Jayden
must work really hard to look after his pigeons. The
pigeons raced back to Jayden’s house.
By Jayda 1/2C
Flutter, flutter, flutter is it an eagle? No! It is a
pigeon. Jayden spoke about his pigeons.
Secondly, he asked some people if they had any
questions. Next, we went out to the field and had
a pat f the cute teenager pigeons. Finally, Jayden
released the pigeons. They did three big loops like
an athletics ring. Then they flew up in the air all the
way to Jayden’s home. But… which pigeon will
win?

Breakthrough Junior Challenge
Jesse Wright a past student from our school -
currently Mt Saint Patrick School captain has
made the top 30 short list for a world-wide science
and mathematics competition for his explanation
of the holographic theory.
Below is part of an article that appeared in the
Tweed Daily News:
Using his passion for science and maths, Jesse
created a short video explaining holographic
theory, which looks at the idea we don’t really
understand our universe like we think we do.
Jesse said he would be “honoured” if he won the
public vote, which is decided on how many likes
the video gets on the original Facebook post.

We would like to wish Jesse all the best for the
