The jewelers store designed by me

covers an area of 2760 sq. feet. I have

employed a design process keeping in

mind the importance of easy movement space. The sales counter have been planned in a way to provide a two way movement space for the customers. A warm color scheme & dark color shades have been implemented to highlight the products.

“Smaller the Space, Bigger the Challenge!!!!…I truly understood the meaning of this statement when I was offered to design the office cum personal chamber of Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra, the Principal of the Yoga Institute at Santacruz. I personally believe that interior design is all about expressing a person’s individuality. Dr. Jayadeva Yogendra – an epitome of positive energy, the challenge was to mirror this persona and spirituality onto his 300 sq. feet Office cum personal chamber.

This integrated design for the Guruji’s office at the Yoga Institute reflects the enlightening and activating nature of his work, while supporting a functional yet welcoming office/meeting space. The sun is what we call an everlasting source of radiating energy—a stream of warm, inviting, yellow light. It is with this idea that the Guruji’s office was born and brought into existence in order to welcome guests into the rays of healing light. With this office, I have implemented several elements to actualize the theme of the sun, with usage of floor tiling, a half-circle desk with chairs situated as sun beams and an overhead lighting scheme to fill the room with lighting similar to the sun. Tones of yellow and orange decorate the room to elicit comfort, while hues of white bathe the room to maintain the sense of purity.

An office like this was conceptualized to stimulate the senses and in the completed project, it does just that.”

Concept Note:

Through design alternatives examined conventional layout the final design was open, contemporary & above all vibrant in essence. My design is about energy tamed by geometric, with lines pregnant with potential or unleashed in a furry of flowing lines and sweeping curves. The point at which an escalating curve meets a straight line is dynamic, sensuous and incisive. The volume of the space has been transformed into a vital youthful place. I have implemented a scheme where design elements support the aesthetics and not suppress it.

"Mr. Murtaza Baker did an incredible job on the new Shop for Change Fair Trade office, a not-for-profit organisation based in Mumbai. With our somewhat limited budget, Mr. Baker and his team were able to come up with creative and professional solutions to all of our design needs, developing a clean and fresh... look that has given us the edge we need as we scale up our organisation. Shop for Change works with small-scale farmers, and we have several large photographs of them- Mr. Baker recognized the importance of focusing on the power and impact of these photographs, and so designed much of the office around highlighting these pieces- this is just one example of the thoughtful and precise work of Baker Design Group. We're extremely happy with the outcome and are excited to be working in our great new office space!"

- Amanda White, Ex Employee at Shop For Change Fair Trade

"For me the designer matters more than the design., for if a designer is humble, receptive, relaxed, not messed in his mind, whatever she/he creates will reflect that space inside. Murtaza Baker is one such individual, who is capable of creating pretty cool, hi-energy spaces with his persona and approach.“  - Mitesh Thakkar, Italian Mosaic Dealer

"Taking Murtaza'a personality into account I was pretty sure of my choice for a Designer. Mr. Baker has an eye for detail and a creative talent that spans the length and breath of design as I know it. My brief was simple, redesign my kitchen. Mr. Baker then took my personality into account and gave me a design that not only maximised m...y usable space but also created a non-cluttered and warm ambience. My only regret is that I didn't get him to redesign my entire house and that is something I will remedy when I get another apartment.“ - Paul Nazareth, Business Development Manager
