JUDY’S JOTTINGS
Hello Friends,
Hope your all well now that the weather is improving. The three little chicks that hatched in my entry
have flown the coup. Time now to quickly repot the tree and clean up the mess before mother bird
starts again.
I have spent sometime this week with my grandchildren in the Perth Hills. It has been lovely to take
some walks and see the magnificent and plentiful display of wildflowers.
What a fantastic speaker we had this month. I am sorry for those who were unable to attend the
meeting, it was a very interesting talk. Thanks again to Ann Bevis for arranging this.
Until next time, keep smiling,
Judy

Our guest speaker Glenn Mitchell
talked to us on Drugs in sport. It was an eye
opening, interesting and infomative subject, with a
good bit of humour thrown in.
In late-2006 he finally realized he needed medical help for
his condition. Thus started a long and complex journey of self-analysis and various
medications as he endeavoured to overcome his illness.

For more than two decades from early 1990, Glenn Mitchell lived a life that many envied. As a
sports commentator for the ABC, and married to fellow sports broadcaster, Karen Tighe, he
travelled the world covering elite level sport.
Not long after joining the ABC legendary broadcaster, George Grljusich dubbed him “The Oracle”
due to his encyclopaedic knowledge of sport.
During his tenure with the national broadcaster Glenn commentated on four Olympic, four
Commonwealth and two Paralympic Games. As one of the ABC’s senior cricket commentators he
called nearly 200 international matches, covering 13 overseas tours.
2500 years ago, a slave call girl from Sardinia, named *Gedophamee*,
pronounced "Get off a me", was attending A Great Athletic Festival in Greece.
This festival had no name !!!
In those days the athletes performed naked, believe it or not, and in orderto prevent unwanted sexual
arousal while competing, the men imbibed freely on a drink containg saltpetre before and throughout the
variety of events. At the opening ceremonial parade, "Gedophamee" observed the first wave of naked
male athletes marching towards her, and she exclaimed, *"Oh! Limp Pricks"* !!!Over the next two and a
half thousand years that expression has morphed into *OLYMPICS*.
I just thought I would share this new found knowledge with you.

Cocktails/Mocktails
At the Weggan’s a very
pleasant afternoon was had.
With an array of alcolfrolic
drinks and nibbles, and good
company.
