Visitors to Salalah this Khareef season have outnumbered tourists arrivals witnessed during the last four years. The total number of visitors recorded till September 1, this year crossed the 400,000 mark the first time in last four years.

A total of 407,767 people visited Salalah from June 21 to September 1, which is more than the total number of tourists witnessed in the entire season in the year 2012.

Omanis formed the majority of those travelling to Salalah with 280,945, followed by GCC nationals (95,862).The rest constituted of Asians (24,329), Arabs (4,314) and others (2,317) including Europeans, Americans, Africans and Oceanians.

Shops now open in Jebel Sifah and Salalah Beach Jebel Sifah saw its first few shops opened recently. A Flower shop opened its door close to the Sifawy hotel, Totem a brand for clothing has also taken its place on the marina front along with Nejd an Omani handicraft and incense outlet and GIB furniture shop. Expected soon to open are the super market, Oman heritage and water activities.

Salalah Beach saw its first Lasista Café and Marina Mart, a supermarket, open on the

commercial area around the marina. Rana Bou Dargham, Directior of Destination Operations quoted, “This is just the beginning, soon to open are the Sail Fish restaurant, Totem, GIB furniture shop and an exclusive outlet for swimwear, these to be followed by many more outlets”.

DIRECTIONSBoil water, put the fish bones inside, blanch them until all the dirty particulars like blood, protein & dirt is coming up to the surface of the water. (Approx. 2 minutes)

Strain it, put clear cold water in the pot. Add all vegetable, seasoning, lemon. do not boil; let it slowly simmer until you get a strong fish broth. Strain it. Let it cool down then place in the freezer or use the stock directly for your Seafood soup.

DIRECTIONSFor the seafood soup, sweat the onion &

garlic in olive oil, until they get a golden color. Add the carrot´s & fennel, sweat. Add salt, lemon juice if necessary.

10g black pitted olives1 garlic clove

15g olive oilSalt for seasoning

DIRECTIONSFor olive paste, put the olives, garlic & little olive oil in a blender & blend it well until you get a smooth paste. Add seasoning if necessary. Roast the sliced French bread in the oven until its crispy & light brown colored. Spread the olive paste thinly on the french bread.
