OUR MISSION At the Munroe Center for the Arts, we strive to enrich the lives of the residents of the

greater Lexington community. We provide stimulating arts

education, imaginative cultural programs and events, and

inspirational creative spaces for working artists.

OUR HISTORY The Munroe Center for the Arts originated in 1984 and

was officially founded in 1994 as a non-profit to offer arts

education to the community and low-cost studio space for artists. We lease our building from the Town of Lexington.

OUR SERVICES Today, we house four visual and performing arts schools that serve all ages, as well as

ten artists who have their studios here. We are a hub of

cultural activity - last year producing twelve cultural

performances, over ten community events, and six

gallery shows for local artists.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: 1. Donations large and small help to make our goals a reality 2. Ambassadors help to build our network of interested donors, volunteers, students, and

audience members grow our programming and community engagement 3. Committee members offer invaluable planning help, or help with one-time events and projects

2019-20 FUNDING PRIORITIES This year the Munroe Center for the Arts is focusing on three areas of growth, as well as

beginning planning for full building accessibility.

PATRONS We help connect business sponsors with the community through our media coverage in local newspapers, monthly newsletter, website, social media, performance programs and fliers that reach thousands of residents and neighbors each year (details are available upon request). Additionally we host meet-and-greets several times each year and promote patrons on our Donors Wall at the front entrance of our building. Business sponsorship to the MCA provides much-needed financial assistance for community program maintenance and growth.

Individual donors can make an impact with donations that strengthen our programming to support local artists, and our ability to provide a hospitable space to socialize, explore, and grow in the arts (a 1905 elementary school building). Individual donors can amplify their giving by helping to recruit business sponsors where they work, or where they have a connection.

PATRON LEVELS • MCA Angel - $5000 or more • Gold Patron - $1000 or more • Silver Patron - $500 or more • Bronze Patron - $100 or more • MCA Donor - any amount • Performance Sponsor - If you would like to celebrate a special occasion or a special person,

we welcome you to dedicate a Munroe Saturday Nights performance. Our staff will work with you regarding a particular program’s cost and related promotion.

AMBASSADORS Reading the monthly newsletter and sharing this information with friends and acquaintances helps to spread the word about all the good programming that happens through the MCA. Hosting coffees or happy hour with people you know provides a forum to let residents and neighbors know about the good that we do, and the opportunities for others to be part of it.

CLASSES - The schools at the MCA provide classes in music, dance, and the visual arts for all ages during the school years, as well as eleven weeks of vacation camp in the summer. This includes lessons in voice and violin, ballet and hip hop, painting and ceramics among many other offerings. Having more people aware of what is being offered, and able to share this with the community keeps these classes relevant and populated.

EVENTS - Artists need an audience, and the MCA strives to help build that as well as to provide engaging programming for residents and neighbors. Today it is not enough to advertise in the newspaper - we need to have our friends everywhere know what is going on so that they can share information with anyone who might enjoy it!

COMMITTEES We have Board committees in development, building needs, governance, finance, and events/outreach. Each of these committees recruits volunteers to help provide strategy, planning, and oversight. A special committee of the board is the Munroe Saturday Nights planning committee that looks for new performance artists, and provides support at events.

EVENT VOLUNTEERS We spearhead many events during the year that need both planning help, and on-the-day help. This assistance will help us to advance new programming such as a youth holiday market to give an opportunity for young artists and entrepreneurs to sell their work, and more!
