EKA, a sports CSR initiative of IIFL Investment Managers, along with Indian Chess School & South Mumbai Chess Academy, cordially invites players from all chess federations under FIDE to register for the 4th edition of EKA – IIFL INVESTMENT MANAGERS Mumbai International Chess Tournament.

The championship is being conducted under the auspices of All India Chess Federation (AICF), All Marathi Chess Association (AMCA) & Mumbai City District Chess Association (MCDCA).

Eligibility: The tournament is open for players who have a Standard FIDE Rating of 2100. No deviations in these criteria will be allowed.

System of Play: The championship shall be played under the FIDE Laws of Chess for a total of 09-rounds on a Swiss-League basis. Accelerated pairings system for first three rounds shall befollowed.

Time-Control: Each player shall have 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds per move starting from move one. The default time is 30 minutes.

Accommodation: 1. The invited foreign GM/WGM/IM/WIM will be provided free hotel accommodation

(full board) on twin-sharing basis.2. The invited Indian GM/WGM will be provided free hotel accommodation (full board)

on twin-sharing basis.3. All invited Indian IM above 2400 & invited WIM (above 2300) will be provided an

amount of Rs. 10,000/- (Ten Thousand Rupees) towards accommodation. They will not be provided any accommodation.

The championship is being conducted under the auspices of All India Chess Federation (AICF), All Marathi Chess Association (AMCA) & Mumbai City District Chess Association (MCDCA).

Eligibility: The tournament is open for all the Under-13 players who are born on or after 01/01/2005 and will have to substantiate entries with valid Birth Certificates. Foreign participants would be permitted to participate against a valid FIDE ID.

Subject to fulfilling the age-criteria, the following players are invited to participate in this event and will provided free entry and accommodation along with one Guardian for 10-nights with check-in on 29 December 2018 and Check-out 08 January 2019.

1. The World Cadet Chess Champions in the Under-08, Under-10 & Under-12 (Open & Girls) category. Tournament which will be held at Santiago De Compostela, Spain from 3 – 16 November 2018.

2. The Indian National Chess Champions in Under-07, Under-09, Under-11, Under-13 (one each in Open & Girls): i. Amogh Bisht & Lakshana Subramanian (Under-07), ii. Illamparthi & Sneha Halder (Under-09), iii. Dev Shah and Savitha Shri (Under-11), iv. Aaryan Varshaney and Bhagyashree Patil (Under-13).

Note:a) Players who fulfill the above categories should confirm their participation by 20th

November, 2018. b) The benefit will not be passed to the next ranked player in case the eligible player is

not in a position to participate.c) The benefit for free accommodation cannot be redeemed for cash.

Indian players have to be registered with AICF for the year 2018-2019 while players from the State of Maharashtra would have to be registered with AMCA for the year 2018-2019.

AICF Registration for the Year 2018-2019: Indian players should be compulsory registered with AICF. Players, not yet registered for the 2018-19 season can register with AICF on remitting a sum of Rs.250/- Entries from unregistered players will not be entertained.

AMCA Registration for the Year 2018-2019: Maharashtra players must be registered with AMCA. Players, not yet registered for the 2018-19 season can register with remitting a sum of Rs.150/- Entries from unregistered players will not be entertained.

Default Time (except Blitz): Any player who arrives at the chessboard 30 minutes after the scheduled round time shall be forced to forfeit the game. Thus, the default time is 30 minutes (Blitz excluded).

The Drawn Game: The rules of the competition specify that the players cannot draw the game before 40 moves without the consent of the Arbiter.

Tie-Break: The following tie-break criteria shall be applied (in the order given) to determine the final rankings:1. Results of direct encounters between the tied players2. Buchholz Cut 13. Buchholz4. The greater number of games played with Black5. The greater number of wins

Arbitration of Protest: Objection, if any, to the decision of the Chief Arbiter, shall be made in writing with a protest fee of Rs.500/- (Rs. Five Hundred Only) within 30 minutes of the occurrence of the incident. The amount would be refunded if the appeal is upheld.

Appeals Committee: A 7-member Committee of Appeals (inclusive of 2-reserves) shall be formed from amongst players/Officials/Coaches. The decision of the said committee shall be final and binding on all the participants.

Interpretation: For further interpretations of the rule(s) and deciding any aspect not covered by the said tournament prospectus, the decision of the Tournament Directors shall be final and binding on all the participants. The Tournament Directors have every right to make any addition/deletion/amendment to these rules. However, such changes shall be displayed on the notice board.

Instructions for Players: Players are not allowed to carry bags, mobile phones and other electronic devices to the playing arena. Arrangements have been made for players to deposit their bags, mobile phones, etc.

About the Venue: The World Trade Centre is located at Cuffe Parade near the iconic 'Gateway of India'. The venue is easily accessible from two main railways stations: Churchgate & Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (both local & terminus). From here, one can take a Taxi or avail the 'Share-a-Cab' service or a BEST bus to get to the destination.

It is located 27 kms. approximately from both the International as well as Domestic Air Terminal, via Western Express Highway.
