High-Te mperature, High-Pressure, Closed-Cycle CO 2  Brayton Cycle: -eelop supercritical+ 2./0. ar+ 1../0..C 3ra"ton c"cle with 45.6 efficienc" (.. *7 to M7)! Low-Temperature Organic Rankine Cycle: -eelop or#anic Ran*ine c"cle with o peratin# at 899.C and with efficienc" 42.6 (25 *7 to M7)! Thermal torage and Hy!ridi"ation: -eelop h"ridi$ed stora#e s"ste,s for the dierse te,perature ran#es of the 3ra"ton and Ran*ine conerters in the first two actiities! High-temperature, high-pressure, closed-cycle CO 2  Brayton cycle   t "pical lar#escale CSP plant ased on the stea, Ran*ine c" cle has a c"cle efficienc" of aout 956 (for 45. M7e plants)! The c"cle efficienc" falls to as low as 2.6 for plants of aout M7e capacit"! Therefore+ we will e;plore other ther,od"na,ic c"cles and wor*in# fluids for si#nificantl" hi#her c"cle efficiencies! <or e;a,ple+ air 3ra"ton c"cles with er" hi#h receier te,peratures ( 0../...C) can "ield an efficienc" 4=.6! The c"cle efficienc" can e 45.6 with closedc"cle+ hi#hpressure C& 2  3ra"ton c"cles+ een with lower receier te,peratures ( 1../>..C)! 7ith a supercritical C& 2  3ra"ton c"cle+ the c"cle efficiencies can een reach 4556 with re#eneration+ een with ,oderate receier te,perature! &ur ,ain challen#e for closedc"cle C& 2  3ra"ton (.. *7/ M7) is to deelop a costeffectie heliostat field and hi#hte,perature stora#e+ plus h"ridi$ation that is co,,on to all these c"cles!
