IMAGING

A nanoscale reduced graphene oxide–iron oxide nanoparticle (RGO–IONP) complex is nonco-valently functionalized with polyethylene glycol (PEG) by Z. Liu and co-workers on page 1868, obtaining a RGO–IONP–PEG nanocomposite which displays excellent physiological stability, strong NIR optical absorbance, and superpara-magnetic properties. This theranostic nanoprobe allows multimodal tumor imaging - in vivo triple modal fl uorescence, photoacoustic, and magnetic resonance imaging are carried out, uncovering high passive tumor targeting, which is further used for the effective photothermal ablation of tumors in mice.
