Abstract: Formula SAE is an internationally recognized engineering design competition open to undergraduate and graduate students to design and manufacture an open-wheeled formula style racecar. The design goal of this project is to incorporate a balance between design, performance, manufacturability and cost. Specific goals of this year’s team is to use learned engineering techniques to create a vehicle with the ability to operate at speeds of up to 80 mph, and capable of acceleration, cornering, and braking performance of 1.0, 1.2 and 1.75G’s, respectfully, all with an overall weight of just 460 lbs.
