Four important topics that we will be addressing with our elected leaders are: 1. Professional Privilege Tax—We hope that the positive growth in our state rev- enues will allow for this tax on Brokers to be repealed. 3. Service of Process—Repossession of a Landlord’s Property — We are in sup- port of a Senate bill that allows action to be taken against both the occupying residents of a property and the contractually named party for the property. When a leasee moves away leaving others in the property, there is currently no option to serve the contractual party that is now moved away. 4. Uniform Commercial Real Estate Receivership Act— We support this legisla- tion that will assist Tennessee with aligning our receivership laws across the country, taking court discretion out of the mix, and clarify how receivership is set up for everyone. It will allow Receivers to sell assets free and clear of jun- ior liens, and move the property to liquidation more efficiently. If you want to be in the conversa- tion with us, protecting private property rights and speak for con- sumers and your industry, join us here on Wednesday at MTAR, bring your photo ID, jump on the bus with us, and let’s talk politics with the decision makers! MTAR Takes on Capitol Hill in Nashville This Week

There’s always something going on in the State Legislature that will impact your

personally or professionally. If you want to hear directly from our elected offi-

cials on important topics that impact you, you are welcome to join us on Wednes-

day, Feb. 14 as we travel as a group to the State Capitol and meet our decision

makers. We have a reserved meeting room in the Senate Library in the Capitol,

and appointments for our officials to visit with us that afternoon. Four important

topics that we will be addressing with our elected leaders are:

1. Short-term rentals—while there is only one bill still in play on the agenda,

REALTORS will weigh in on the positives and negatives of statewide regula-

tions that could impact local government decisions.

2. Professional Privilege Tax—We hope that the positive growth in our state rev-

enues will allow for this tax on Brokers to be repealed.

3. Service of Process—Repossession of a Landlord’s Property — We are in sup-

port of a Senate bill that allows action to be taken against both the occupying

residents of a property and the contractually named party for the property.

When a leasee moves away leaving others in the property, there is currently

no option to serve the contractual party that is now moved away.

4. Uniform Commercial Real Estate Receivership Act— We support this legisla-

tion that will assist Tennessee with aligning our receivership laws across the

country, taking court discretion out of the mix, and clarify how receivership is

set up for everyone. It will allow Receivers to sell assets free and clear of jun-

ior liens, and move the property to liquidation more efficiently.

If you want to be in the conversa-

tion with us, protecting private

property rights and speak for con-

sumers and your industry, join us

here on Wednesday at MTAR, bring

your photo ID, jump on the bus

with us, and let’s talk politics with

the decision makers! Contact Clint if you want to reserve a seat & join us!

Have you received YOUR 2018 Golden

Rule(r) yet? In just the first week, six

big Thank You for a job well done. Send

one; get one ~ share the GOOD news

about professionalism & great service!
