Much more than a degree.Earning a college degree is something that’s obviously a priority to you. At Morehead State, the way you will earn your college degree is what sets us apart from other universities. Take class sizes, for example. We don’t necessarily believe that “bigger is better.” With an average class size of 18, you get the focused attention you deserve and have more access to faculty. You’re not just a number at MSU, you’re an Eagle and your professors will know you by name.

You will gain real-world experience through countless opportunities at MSU like our Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program, which allows you to work side-by-side with faculty on research projects in numerous areas of study. Depending on your major, your education will also be greatly enhanced by some of MSU’s unique facilities.

• Nursing students utilize our Simulation Through Advanced Technology (STAT) labs that accurately recreate scenarios they could experience in the fi eld.

• Students enrolled in the Department of Agricultural Sciences can really get their hands dirty at the 325-acre University Farm doing everything from growing crops to equine breeding to raising cattle, swine and sheep.

• The 21st Century Center for Manufacturing Systems, the fi rst center of its kind in the region, provides hands-on experience with state-of-the-art software and equipment.

• Earth and space sciences students will take classes in our Space Science Center, where they’ll have the opportunity to develop and build satellites and other aerospace technologies in cooperation with NASA.

Our graduates are accepted into professional schools – from medical to dental, veterinary to law – at rates well above state and national averages. Whatever your interest, Morehead State can help you achieve your dreams.

I’m much more involved.

Much more campus life.Living on campus allows you to connect with the campus community by meeting new people and sharing new experiences. From your roommates to residential advisors (RAs), there is always someone around. Through residential life, you will fi nd independence, support and lifelong friendships.

We offer a variety of housing styles, from our traditional residence halls to suites and apartments. Our halls are tobacco-free and alcohol-free and include high-speed Internet access and cable TV, along with cooking, vending and free laundry facilities. Most residence halls are just a short walk away from Eagle Lake, where you can bike, hike, kayak or just enjoy the outdoors.

Six of our residence halls are newly renovated as a part of our campus housing master plan, designed to meet the needs and expectations of current and future students.

Dining

What about food? Sure, you might miss your family’s home cooking, but you certainly won’t go hungry at MSU. You can use your meal plan to eat at Alumni Tower or the Adron Doran University Center (we call it “ADUC”). If you want to venture off campus for a bite, BeakerBucks are accepted at selected area restaurants.

You’ll love the fresh, home-style cooking and buffet-style offerings at Beaker’s, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner on the fi rst fl oor of Alumni Tower. This is also where you’ll fi nd Wing Span, offering scrumptious wings, savory burgers and toasty sandwiches. In ADUC, you’ll fi nd the Marketplace, with quick dining options including Chick-fi l-A and Taco Bell. You can grab Chinese, Italian, made-to-order salads or great-tasting deli-sandwiches, soups and wraps. Need a caffeine boost? Starbucks is in ADUC, too!

Safety

MSU is ranked among the safest in the nation. Our campus community is dedicated to providing you with a safe environment in which to live, work and learn. The MSU Police Department is available 24 hours a day for your safety.

The city of Morehead is a picturesque community big on small town charms, with local restaurants, boutiques, bakeries, bookstores and other local businesses within walking distance of campus while also having various shopping centers, large grocery stores and popular chain restaurants a short drive away.

If you like to stay active, you’ll love our award-winning and nationally-ranked Recreation & Wellness Center. This facility houses three basketball courts, two racquetball courts, multiple fi tness areas with free weights and exercise equipment, and a swimming pool with a whirlpool. Much more than a game.At Morehead State, we don’t take competition lightly. Our Eagles are charter members of the Division I Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and compete at the football championship subdivision level in the Pioneer Football League. Our men’s basketball team won the 2009 and 2011 OVC tournaments, propelling them to the NCAA tournament. MSU’s women’s soccer team was the 2008, 2010 and 2013 OVC Tournament champions and participated in the NCAA Tournament. Our baseball team has won eight OVC titles, including their most recent championship in 2015 that led to an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. Our women’s golf team won the OVC title in 2011 and our women’s volleyball team has racked up 13 OVC championships.

When it comes to academic excellence, our student-athletes have a winning record. Our teams fi nish among the leaders in their conference – and in the nation – and we’ve won the prestigious OVC Institutional Academic Excellence Award 12 times. MSU is dedicated to providing our student-athletes with exceptional academic resources like our Eagle Athletics Guided Learning & Enhancement (EAGLE) Center. This state-of-the-art, 7,000 square-foot facility features computer stations, Wi-Fi Internet access and areas for both private and group study. MSU’s student-athletes bring their A-game on the fi eld, on the court and in the classroom.

I’m much more active.

“Besides cheerleading, there were several things that drew me to MSU. I like the small class sizes and everything on campus being within short walking distance. I also take advantage of fun attractions that are off campus, like exploring the woods in places like Lockegee and Tater Knob.”

Eric WhitePaducah, KYBiomedical Science

Much more to cheer about. Our national champion cheerleaders are truly something to cheer about. They compete at the Universal Cheerleading Association college cheerleading championships in Orlando, Florida. It’s a competition MSU cheerleaders consistently dominate – and by that, we mean they’ve walked away with 36 national titles. Think you have what it takes to be part of our all-women’s or coed squads? Tryouts are held in the spring. Interested in dance? MSU’s dance team performs at several of our home athletic events.

• Our MSU Foundation awards students approximately 375 scholarships, valued at nearly $520,000 annually.

Much more value. One of the many great things about Morehead State, in addition to a quality education, is that it offers a full college experience in an environment that feels more like a small school than a large university. What makes coming to MSU even better is that it is a college experience that’s also affordable thanks to numerous fi nancial aid and scholarship opportunities. At Morehead State University, more than 90 percent of our undergraduate students receive some type of fi nancial aid.

How to apply for financial aidThe fi rst step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and have your results sent to MSU(FAFSA Code: 001976). These results will help us determine whether you qualify for need-based fi nancial aid, such as grants, loans and federal student employment/work study.

We understand applying for fi nancial aid can be confusing. Our fi nancial aid offi ce is here to make this process as smooth as possible. Questions? Contact us at 800-585-6781 or fi [email protected].

I’m much more because of MSU.

“MSU has given me much more than just an education. I have made so many friends, have been able to have experiences that are invaluable, and have truly found my home away from home! As a recipient of an MSU Foundation Scholarship, I will be able to fi nish my undergraduate education without fi nancial worry. I am so proud to be able to call MSU my alma mater.”

Much more Eagle Pride. When you graduate from Morehead State University, you instantly join an impressive community of alumni. Since our beginning, more than 65,000 men and women have attended MSU. These alumni have gone on to pursue their goals and dreams with the knowledge and relationships developed while at MSU.

MSU alumni often leave campus to make an impact in their chosen fi eld across the country and around the globe, but the bonds they built during their time at MSU and their adoration for the University makes them not only come back, but also give back.

Becoming an active member of the MSU Alumni Association upon graduation is a great way to connect with fellow Eagles and contribute to the continued growth of the University.

I’m much more connected.“Being a part of the Eagle Nation is a family tradition for us.
