Today, over 2,000 UCD physiotherapy graduates are working throughout the world in all areas of Physiotherapy.

It is each student’s responsibility to contact the relevant national and state/provincial registration authorities to determine the requirements for the practice of physiotherapy in the particular state or province in which you hope to reside and work.



U.S. Licensure Example

“Each jurisdiction has its own licensure requirements and administers its own licensure process.

Foreign-educated candidates for licensure, are typically required to have their educational credentials reviewed as part of the licensure process. This review must be conducted by a credentialing agency approved by the jurisdiction in which the applicant intends to practice as a physical therapist (PT)

Once an applicant's credentials are approved and he/she has provided all of the required application documents, the jurisdiction will determine if the applicant is eligible to take the National Physical Therapy Exam, the FSBPT's licensure exam.

Upon successful completion of the exam and fulfilment of all other applicable licensing authority requirements, a license will be awarded allowing the applicant to practice as a PT in that jurisdiction only.

Admission Requirements

• Minimum 2.1 first degree by Summer 2013(relates (approximately) to a 3.08 GPA on a 4.0 scale)

• Meet the pre-requisites of the programme:

• Clinical Human Anatomy 10 ECTS • Applied Human Anatomy 5 ECTS • Human Physiology 10 ECTS • Exercise Science 10 ECTS • Applied Physics 5 ECTS • Chemistry-Biochemistry 5 ECTS• Applied Human Biomechanics 5 ECTS• Behavioural Sciences 10 ECTS• Research Methods and Statistics 5 ECTS

5 ECTS =25- 30 contact hours/semester long module



Assessment Procedure

Academic Ability (Honours Bachelor’s degree at the minimum level of 2.1). Official transcript of degree and final award are required.

Motivation and Interest (a curriculum vitae and personal statement outlining motivation to study physiotherapy which conforms to the UCD personal statement template available on www.ucd.ie/mature).

Reference (three letters of recommendation; at least one academic and one physiotherapy-related).
