This programme is eligible for funding for successful applicants through the Aerospace Bursary MSc Scheme worth £9,500.

www.birmingham.ac.uk/msc-icmeThis brochure was written several months in advance of the start of the academic year. It is intended to provide prospective students with a general picture of the programmes and courses offered by the School. Please note that not all programmes or all courses are offered every year. Also, because our research is constantly exploring new areas and directions of study some courses may be dropped and new ones offered in their place.

This MSc programme in advanced materials modelling focuses on theory and simulation of microstructure and material behaviour for industrial application in aerospace, automotive and energy sectors.

Open to graduates of engineering, physical sciences, mathematics and computer science, with an interest in research or industrial applications.

The programme is the first of its kind in the UK, with modules taught within an Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) context, which is an emerging interdisciplinary field.

The School of Metallurgy and Materials has long been a centre of excellence in materials research and education. The course content builds on the existing modelling activities in the University of Birmingham and the strategic ambition of the PRISM2 modelling group to become the European centre for ICME.

Funding is available in the form of the Aerospace MSc bursary scheme, which will pay up to £9,500 of successful applicants’ tuition fees.
