Ms. Teague February 11-15 “Leading…Loving… Learning…Together” Schedule of Events February 13 - Club Day February 14 - Fairy Tale Ball at 1:30 February 22- Winterfest 5:00 supper; 6:00-8:00 games Homework/Assessments Read the “Reading Review” sheet out loud every night and sign it every time they do. *Monday- 1. Read for 15 minutes and sign reading log. 2. Study spelling words. *Tuesday - 1. Read. this week’s story, I Like Where I Am, and sign the log. 2. Study spelling. *Wednesday -1. Parent journal. 2. Spelling test. *Thursday -1. Read for 15 minutes and sign reading log. 2. Math sheet. 3. READING test. *Friday - Read to an adult and sign the log. This Week’s Classroom Studies Words to Know- fair, strong, giant, trouble, block, tears, chuckle Reading Comprehension Skill: Plot, Theme, Summarizing Phonics/Spelling: –oi and -oy like in oyster AMSTI Math: 100’s place value; subtraction Rylie Mills Spelling words joy royal enjoy cowboy destroy loyal noise moist broil spoil joint foil turquoise employee corduroy Notes from the Teacher •On Valentine’s Day we will have our Fairy Tale Ball at 1:30. This will include our dance and refreshments. Parents are invited!! We would love to have you join us.! Please bring whatever you signed up for or send it in Thursday morning! You do not need to send a box for our valentine exchange. We will be making a keepsake in class, but we do need their Valentines on Wednesday!!!! •Instead of asking for candy and small toy donations and basket items for our silent auctions, we decided to just take up $3-$5 donations to buy the prizes for the Winterfest. So if you could make a donation, we sure would appreciate it! Winterfest is coming February 22 nd . The supper opens at 5:00 and games from 6:00-8:00. Armbands and/or punch cards will be on sale the 15th through the afternoon of the 22 nd . The price for armbands is $15, punch cards are 20 punches for $10 or 10 punches for $5. Games will be 1 or 2 punches each. Armbands will cover all games except Bingo and raffle tickets. Six Flags Reading Incentive-Keep listening to your child read and sign the log! •Keep sending those Boxtops for Education and aluminum tabs. Bus Rule for February: Never throw anything or bother anyone on Second Grade News Awarded Lighthouse School Status An evaluating team from FranklinCovey came in this past Tuesday to evaluate our school to see if we met the criteria to be the 34th Leader in Me Lighthouse School in the world! I will be honest, it's not about getting a title that only 34 other schools have, but it does put a lot of affirmation on what our community, parents, students, and faculty value everyday and that's the leader in EVERY child we touch everyday! We are striving everyday to build character through the 7 Habits in our children that will make not only a difference in their future but also in their lives today! We couldn't be more excited and I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for being the best group of parents a school could ever want to team up with to make a difference in children! Your support is priceless!!!!!!!!!

An evaluating team from FranklinCovey came in this past Tuesday to evaluate our school to see if we met the criteria to be the 34th Leader in Me Lighthouse School in the world!
