WHAT ARE ADVERBS?
Adverbs are modifiers and can modify verbs, adjectives or other adverbs.
Adverbs tell us in what way someone does something.
ADJECTIVE VS. ADVERBS
Mandy is a careful driver. Mandy drives carefully.
This sentence is about Mandy, the driver, so it
uses the adjective CAREFUL to describe her.
This sentence is about her way of driving, so uses the adverb Carefully to modify the verb drives.
• Mandy is a driver. Mandy drives.

Adverbs: how to form them?Adverbs are formed adding -ly to adjectives.
Tip: Not all words ending in -ly are adverbs.
adjectives ending in -ly: friendly, silly, lonely, ugly
nouns, ending in -ly: ally, bully, Italy, melancholy

There is no adverb for an adjective ending in -ly.

THE POSITION OF ADVERBS IN SENTENCES
The three main positions are:
1) Adverb at the beginning of a sentence
Unfortunately, we could not see Mount Snowdon.
2) Adverb in the middle of a sentence
The children often ride their bikes.
3) Adverb at the end of a sentence
Andy reads a comic every afternoon.
we never put an adverb between the verb and the
object.
The Object is found asking What after
the verb:

THE POSITION OF ADVERBS IN SENTENCES
Adverbs of frequency are positioned before the main verb (usually, regularly, normally
, always, often, sometimes, occasionally, rarely, seldom, never ) :
Or after a form of the Verb to be (am, is, are)
These adverbs can go at the benining or the end of a
sentence.
ADVERBS: WORD ORDER AT THE END OF THE SENTENCE
If there are more adverbs at the end of a sentence, the word order is normally:
Manner - Place – Time
Peter sang the song happily in the bathroom yesterday evening.
How Peter sang ?
Where Peter sang ?
When Peter sang?
