Teacher activity guide• Objectives: • Given a specific design style, students can pair

them with the correct time periods with 100% accuracy.• Given an image of a building, students will be

able to identify the design style implemented in designing it with 100% accuracy.

• Given an image of furniture or other accessories for the home or a building, students will be able to identify the design style (Greek, Egyptian, etc.) with 100% accuracy.

• Given a picture of a room, students will be able to determine which design style (Gothic, Greek, Modern, etc.) the design of the room has been inspired by with 100% accuracy.

Teacher activity guide (continued)• Target Audience:• The target audience of this project is high school students taking an

introductory interior design class. Grades range from 9th-12th grade. • This is an intro class, so there are not any prerequisites.

• Orientation: • Everyone has experienced and seen different styles of interior

design. Through this activity, students will learn to identify the type of design style used in various buildings such as homes and churches. Knowing and being able to identify different design styles is a major concept of interior design.

• Motivation: • Students will be kept interested and instigated by fun videos,

graphics, images, and interactive activities throughout the activity. This way it will not seem mundane as if they are receiving a lecture via Power Point.

Teacher activity guide (continued)• Information:• Students will need to know the timeline of different periods of

design and the basic characteristics of different design styles ranging from elements and accessories of particular designs covered such as Egyptian and Greek styles.

• Application: • There will be a short quiz at the end of the activity for students to

complete after finishing all the components of this activity. There will be fun activities such as videos and crossword puzzles after each section for students to apply what they learned from each particular section.

• Evaluation: • Students will be evaluated on what they have learned from the

entire lesson with a short quiz. The quiz will contain multiple choice questions asking about the video and information covered in the slides.
