For  the  2015-‐16  school  year  we  are  trying  an  approach  to  Parent/Teacher  Conferences  that  combines  the  principles  of  a  Student  Led  Conference  and  the  more  traditional  format  of  scheduled  appointments  with  your  child’s  teachers.    Students  will  attend  the  conferences  with  you  and  the  teacher.    This  will  allow  your  student  to  take  part  in  the  discussion  about  their  academic  progress  in  each  class.        Conferences  will  take  place:

• Thursday,  October  22  from  3:30  to  7  • Tuesday,  October  27  from  3:30  to  7  • Wednesday,  October  28  from  8  to  3:30

Please  contact  your  child’s  teachers  directly  if  you  wish  to  schedule  a  conference.    This  can  be  done  by  phone  or  email.    Emails  are  the  best  way  to  schedule  the  conference.    Emails  are  [email protected]  (ex.  [email protected]),  or  you  may  find  their  direct  link  on  our  webpage:  http://www.pickerington.k12.oh.us/ridgeview-‐stem-‐junior-‐high/directory/.    If  email  is  not  convenient,  you  may  call  the  office  at  548-‐1700  and  we  will  forward  your  message  to  the  teacher’s  voice  mail.

Congratulations  to  the  following  October  STUDENTS  OF  THE  MONTH.    These  students  were  nominated  by  their  teachers  for  excellent  citizenship  and  classroom  performance.    They  will  be  recognized  on  October  7th    at  a  reception,  held  in  their  honor,  that  their  parents  are  invited  to  attend.       MARY-‐KATHRYN  BERGER     PAIGE  BRYAN     BRITNEY  GOMEZ-‐ROSALES     SETH  KOGGE     DUSTIN  MOREHART       PAOLA  HERRERA-‐VENTURA     NAOMI  WELLS       SAM  WINHOVEN

Robotics In Gear Students in Mr. Hartley's class have been diving into learning about and building different types of gears and their different applications. Students are currently in the middle of building and designing pull toy cars and windmills with our new knowledge of different gears.

News from Marcia Stewart RN, MSN School Nurse

[email protected]           614-‐548-‐1708  State  mandated  Vision  screenings  for  seventh  grade  students  will  be  completed  during  October.  Please  contact  the  School  Nurse  if  you  have  any  concerns  regarding  your  child  and  the  screening  process.

Students who are ill or injured while at school must report to the clinic. The school nurse or clinic assistant will contact the parent, or allow the student to contact the parent, if it is determined that the student needs to be excused to go home. Students are not permitted to call or text parents directly from their cell phones requesting to be picked up without first being evaluated in the clinic.

First Service Learning Saturday a Success!!! While other students might have been sleeping in, nearly 30 Ridgeview students spent their Saturday morning volunteering their time in service to the community. Ridgeview STEM Junior High School held its first Service Learning Saturday on September 19th. With the help of adult volunteers, the students did landscaping and clean up work in the Outdoor Classroom and creek bed at Ridgeview. They also helped out neighboring C3 Church by painting a shed, weeding their flower beds, and picking up litter on their grounds as well as in the area surrounding C3 and Ridgeview. Mrs. Susan Caudill says she was very pleased by the great turn out for this first attempt at a Service Learning opportunity held on a Saturday and plans to do them frequently throughout the school year.
