Reading GuidelinesReading Guidelines

•Please help your child choose appropriate books for their reading ability. A good rule of thumb is if they don’t know 3-5 words on a page, then they should try a different book.

•Students have learned how to pick good books for themselves (a skill we will continue to work on), and should be reading a “Just Right” book at home.

•The Reading Counts program goals have already been set by the students and approved by me.

Page 8: Mrs. Schlesser’s SLEUTHS Fourth grade class Mrs. Schlesser’s SLEUTHS Fourth grade class

•Approximately 50 – 60 minutes of written homework will be given each day, Monday through Thursday, and occasionally on Friday. It will normally consist of math, writing, science or social studies, and reading. Other topics will be assigned as they arise subject.

•Along with written homework, your child is expected to read 20 minutes EVERYDAY of the week!

* If your child is spending an unusually large amount of time on homework, please feel free to contact me.

• Most subjects will vary, but all test will be mentioned to your children ahead of time.

• Quizzes will usually be announced ahead of time, but occasionally will be unscheduled.

• Students must be responsible for writing ALL quiz and test dates into their agendas!
