Sandals can be worn but MUST have at least a 2” inch heel and must have straps.

Hair style must be appropriate and able to accommodate your cap

Young ladies are not allowed to wear:Shorts or Capris

Earned 24 credits required for graduation

Has a 2.0 overall grade point average

Successfully complete an online learning course via Florida Virtual

Passed the FSA Reading with a 350 and a 497 on the Algebra 1 EOC or receive concordant scores on the following: ACT 24, SAT 430 in Reading, or a 97 on the PERT

At least 1 hour of documented Community Service

Students that have not met the Florida assessment requirements may participate; however, a HS diploma will not be given.

Students that have not purchased a Cap & Gown will be provided with a Herff Jones waiver by the Activities Director once they are cleared for graduation by their counselor Cap & Gowns must be

purchased from the local Herff Jones store and will be $45.

Rehearsals are mandatory for all seniors

Failure to attend will jeopardize your participation in the actual ceremony.

Student in OJT must attend all rehearsals and should provide their employer with the rehearsal schedule.

Rehearsals will be held in the gymnasium accordingly:

Friday, June 1st, 7:20am-11:30am

Monday, June 4th, 7:20am-11:30am

Tuesday, June 5th, 7:20am-11:30am (Ticket Distribution)

Students that attend George T. Baker and Lindsey Hopkins will need to inform

their teachers at their respective school sites or will need to speak with

Ms. Floyd in room 124 or myself.

All students are expected to conduct themselves in an appropriate manner

Students should take rehearsals seriously as this ceremony in not only for them, but for their family members and friends that have supported them up to this point

Students that behave inappropriately during graduation rehearsals will be:

Unable to walk at graduation and will have their diplomas mailed to their homes or they may pick up their diploma on June 7th

Students that behave inappropriately at the graduation ceremony will be:

Asked to leave and will be escorted out by FIU Police and their diplomas will be held by administration until a release date is decided upon.

Everyone attending your graduation MUST have a ticket.

Graduates will receive five (5) tickets .

If extra tickets are available, they will be issued (1 maximum per student) immediately following rehearsal, June 4th.

Babies, toddlers, and all other children will be required to have a graduation ticket.

Strollers and car seats, large bags will NOT BE ALLOWED in the Convocation Center.

There will be no holding of seats

Seating is on a 1st come 1st serve basis

Students are to arrive at the Ocean Bank Convocation Center at FIU at 12:15pm and go directly to the Student Holding Tent located in the loading dock area next to the Panther Campus Parking Garage 3 (PG 3). Please do not be late. Report to your place in the line-of-march and remain in place for further instructions; your name card will be issued at that time and your cell phone will be collected. There will be NO cell phones on the floor during the ceremony.

Parents are not allowed in the Student Holding Tent.

Students should ask for assistance with their gowns while in holding tent, hold onto their name cards, and stay in their lines in order to prepare the processional.

All guests entering the Convocation Center will be asked to pass through a metal

detector and will be subject to bag checks. Guest may be asked to open bulky

items such as jackets prior to entering. Entry will be denied to any guest that

refused consent to such an inspection or possesses any illegal, dangerous or

harmful items.

Large Bags/Backpacks are not allowed; and bags are subject to search.

Guests should not bring items into the graduation such as balloons. They will be taken

from you upon entering the hall. Noisemakers, confetti, and any other object that

detracts from the ceremony are not permitted.

FIU Police will be positioned in various areas of the stands and individuals will be

escorted out if they do not follow directions.

Guest should not enter the Student Holding Tent once the ceremony is over.

Pictures should be taken prior to the ceremony because graduation apparel will be collected following the ceremony. You must turn in your gown immediately following the ceremony in order to receive your diploma on June 7th. The cap, stole, hood, medallion, and tassel are yours to keep.

Food or drinks are not allowed Nor Video cameras are prohibited.

Diplomas will be distributed the following day at the school site in the Auditorium on Thursday, June 7th from 8am-10:30am.

FIU Police will be onsite to escort any guest out of the graduation if they do not comply with graduation rules and

regulations or the Arsht Centers Policies.
