Student Rights Student Responsibilities

It is my right to feel SAFE at school.

It is my responsibility to BEHAVE SAFELY and not hurt others with actions/words.

It is my right to use SUPPLIES to learn.

It is my responsibility to TAKE CARE of those supplies.

It is my right to have my own SPACE.

It is my responsibility to keep my space NEAT and ORDERLY.

It is my right to eat LUNCH at school.

It is my responsibility to use good MANNERS at the table.

It is my right to LEARN new things.

It is my responsibility to work QUIETLY and not distract others from their learning.

It is my right to be treated with RESPECT.

It is my responsibility to treat others with RESPECT and solve problems calmly.

It is my right to SHARE ideas and ASK questions.

It is my responsibility to wait my turn to speak and LISTEN when others share.

It is my right to have a kind and caring TEACHER.

It is my responsibility to LISTEN and follow directions so we can learn.

It is my right to PARTICIPATE in class activities.

It is my responsibility to FOCUS on my learning and do my BEST in all classroom activities.

Our classroom is a calm and quiet place in the morning.

Help us create a peaceful and happy room!

1. Walk into the room quietly.2. Unpack and turn in papers or notes.3. Put bags and coats away neatly.4. Check your supplies. (2 sharp

pencils, pen, glue, scissors, erasers, etc.)

5. Ask for needed supplies BEFORE morning announcements.

6. Complete morning work quietly.7. Stand respectfully for the Pledge.

You are responsible for having your supplies and being prepared for school each day. Not having your supplies is

never an excuse for interrupting learning or not following directions.

If you are missing supplies, you must take care of this in the morning BEFORE class begins.

The sharpener may only be used in the morning BEFORE class begins.

If you do not have a supply, solve the problem quickly and quietly without interrupting learning.

Your journals and folders should be neat and organized. Take care of them

so that they will last all year.

Take care of your journals and folders. They should not be scribbled on, torn, folded, or cut with scissors.

Keep journals and folders stacked neatly so that you can find what you need easily.

Make sure papers are placed neatly in folder pockets, not loose in desk.

Use the correct journal or folder for each assignment.

*If your journal or folder rips or tears,

let the teacher know in the morning

BEFORE class begins.

Restroom and water breaks should never interrupt or distract from our learning.

You may use the restroom or get a drink of water as needed, as long as you are responsible for the following: Do not go when the teacher is giving

directions or teaching a lesson. Use the restroom and water fountains

correctly. Return quickly and quietly. Only go when you really need to go.

Before you raise your hand to ask a question, ask yourself:

We are here to learn. Choose behaviors that will help

you learn.

Keep your attention focused on the lesson or work.

Be considerate of other learners by controlling your voice level and giving others space.

When getting supplies or going to the restroom, move through the room quietly without disturbing other learners.

If you have a problem, solve it quickly and quietly. If you need the teacher’s help, let her know and then wait patiently.

Grades are for you, your family, and your teacher to know how you are progressing.

The purpose of grades is to let you and your family know what you have learned in school and what you still need to learn.

Grades are for you and your family. They are private. Do not discuss or comment on your own or others’ grades.

Daily work and test grades account for 50% of your grade. All papers that are turned in late will have 10 points

deducted. Make-up work should be completed and returned in a

timely manner. Grades received below a 70 can be corrected and will be

averaged together.

Assessments and TestsDuring a test or assessment, it is important that you: Do your best work and take

your time. Stay focused and keep your

eyes on your work only. Use your time wisely so that

you finish your work.

Enter and exit the room quietly without disrupting learning.

Walk calmly and silently. Notice what is happening in the room

or hall so that you can walk in a path that doesn’t interrupt learning.

Move with a purpose. Get where you need to be without talking to others or getting side-tracked.

*Talking, yelling, stomping, clapping, or making other noises disrupts learning.* When entering, notice what other students are doing so that you can get back to work quickly and quietly.

Line up quickly and quietly. Show

that you are ready to go!

1. Wait for the teacher to finish giving directions, or has called you, before standing to line up.

2. WALK silently, straight to the line.3. Once you join the line, stand still and

quiet, facing forward and ready to go.4. Once you are in your spot, stay

there. Do not switch spots or move around the line.

5. Look at the teacher to show you are ready.

6. Leave space between you and the people around you, keeping your hands and feet to yourself.

Help our class get where we need to go quickly and quietly.

1. Keep your hands at your sides, not on the walls or on other students.

2. Hold a bubble in your mouth to remind you to stay quiet.

3. Face forward to avoid wrecks!4. Walk safely and quietly without

stomping or dragging your feet, hopping, or skipping.

5. Keep up with line without bumping into the person in front of you.

You are responsible for turning in your work on time, with your name at the top.

1. Check over your work to make sure it is complete.

2. If you are not finished when the work is due, let the teacher know.

You are responsible for taking home your folder each day and returning it the next

day.

Each evening, be sure to: Show your parents your calendar Check for important notes from school Take out any finished work that has been

graded.

Each morning, be sure to: Unpack your Folder Check inside for any notes/homework

that need to be turned in to the teacher.Take care of your

folder. If you need a new one, let the teacher know in

the morning.

Lunch is your time to relax, eat, and talk with friends. In order for you and others to enjoy lunch, you are responsible for using

good table manners and making good choices.

Please remember: Stay in your assigned spot. Talk quietly with people sitting near you. Keep your food on your tray and your

area clean. Chew with your mouth closed and use

your best table manners. Do not share food. Use only kind words. Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

Remember that you are at school. Be thoughtful of your words and actions.

Recess is your time to relax, play, and talk with friends. In order for you and others to

enjoy recess, you are responsible for playing safely and making good choices.

Please remember: Play safely. School recess is not the

time for rough games or dangerous play. Stay where the teacher can see you. Alert the teacher immediately if

someone is hurt or needs help. Use only kind words and friendly

behaviors. Play fairly and follow game rules.

Remember that you are at school. Be thoughtful of your words and actions.

Our classroom is a calm and quiet place as we wrap up our school day.

1. Listen carefully as the teacher gives any end-of-day announcements.

2. Pack up quickly and silently once your table is called. Don’t forget to check your mailbox!

3. Leave your desk area neat and organized.

4. Place your backpack on top of your desk, stack your chair, and wait quietly to be called to leave.

5. Once we begin dismissal, walk in the hallway quietly.

If you have a change in the way you go

home, make sure you let the teacher know

in the morning.

Make Our Classroom Awesome! Look for ways to be kind and helpful. Think before you speak. If it is not

kind or helpful, please keep thinking! Make everyone feel welcome. In our classroom, we never say “You

aren’t my friend.” If you have a problem with someone,

speak to that person about it. Be ready to work and learn with

everyone in our class.

In this classroom, we are a family and we

take care of each other.

Learning is about taking risks and making mistakes. In our classroom, we work hard,

take risks, make mistakes, and LEARN!

Come to school with a POSITIVE attitude! Keep grumbles and grouchies to yourself.

Be ready to try new things and make mistakes! Messing up is part of learning!

Strive for EXCELLENCE! Look for ways to learn more and do better!

Ask for HELP when you need it! TAKE CHARGE of your learning!
