Background & Urgency of the Problem Proposed Poster Design Theoretical Framework

• People in Kachin areas increase malaria diseases compared to other parts of Myanmar year after year (healthypovertyaction.org, 2010)

• The theory of pickle jar states that it is based on a time management model and it will help us in prioritizing our work, family, self and purpose/spiritual life (Saptakess Senqupta, 2011).

In 3 weeks, I will create an A3-Sized information poster with 5 pictures from the internet in English, describing how human malaria is caused by 4 different species called falciparum, malariae, oval and vivax (worldhealthorganization.int, n.d) to improve 4 knowledge in 1 month.

• In Week 1, the designing of the poster with pictures and text is to help people in Kachin areas with different learning styles understand the message being communicated using the visual, auditory and kinesthetic (VAK) theory (Flemings, 2001, para. 01).

• People in Kachin areas with zero knowledge can improve 4 knowledge on malaria called falciparum, malariae, oval and vivax (worldhealthorganization.int, n.d) in 1 month using 5 pictures on a poster.

• Hard to reach places- people in Kachin in areas which are hard to reach may not get poster delivery on time. Solution: using other channels of distribution like the local council representatives by creative according to six thinking hat theory. (De Bono, 1985).

People in Kachin areas with zero knowledge can follow 5 pictures on a poster to improve 4 knowledge on malaria called falciparum, malariae, oval and vivax (worldhealthorganization.int, n.d) in 1 month.

• Week 1: I will design the poster with pictures and texts• Week 2: producing 100 copies with the help of the regional Hospital, Kachin State• Week 3: selected official from the district health organization office will distribute the poster

to the people in Kachin areas

SummaryThe pickle jar theory is a time management theory based on the idea that time is a finite space but we can fill it with things of all different shapes and sizes. Each item in the pickle jar represents a specific priority. The jar also shows that it is possible to balance a number of priorities in a given space (Zideate.com, n.d).

We’ve also got big rocks (high priority work), pebbles (secondary priorities), sand (low priorities) and water (waste of time).
