MQM AGAINST CORRUPT FEUDAL SYSTEM The feudal system should end By Ashraf Mumtaz ‘If the question of provincial autonomy is not addressed, then disharmony among the provinces will increase to the detriment of Pakistan,’ says MQM chief Altaf Hussain Ignoring PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Husain’s opposition to the issue of framing a new constitution, MQM leader Altaf Hussain has reiterated that to remove discontent and disillusionment among the people o f the smaller provinces of the country, either basic amendments to the Constitution of Pakistan should b e made or a new constitution should be drawn to give full autonomy to all the provinces. In a recent interview with Dawn Magazine, the MQM chief said a new constitution of Pakistan could be framed by setting up a special institution with equal representation from all the federating units. Mr Altaf Hussain said that no other party was in favour of coming up with a new constitution because all of them wanted to maintain the status quo in the country. On the issue of the ARD’s decision to move a no-confidence motion against the Musharraf regime, Mr Hussain alleged that the two major p arties in the ARD were trying to grab power.
