1. Introduction

MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 are mid volume A3 black-and-white multifunctional products. Compact yet highly capable, they provide a cost-effective solution to offi ce document needs. Equipped with Ricoh’s next generation controller (GWNX), MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 can be installed alongside other Ricoh printers and MFPs, as part of a uniform enterprise-wide imaging solution.

Immaculate black-and-white print and copy output is produced at speeds of 25, 30 or 33 A4 pages a minute dependent upon the model selected. Hardcopy documents can be scanned in full colour and shared effortlessly with other users. The fax option allows the new MFPs to be used as a hub for G3, Internet fax, LAN fax and IP fax communication.

MP 2553 is supplied in a choice of SP and ZSP versions. MP 3053 and MP 3353 are supplied in a choice of AD, SP and ZSP confi gurations. AD models include a duplex and ARDF and provide copier functionality. SP and ZSP models include a duplex, ARDF, print/scanner unit and HDD and provide copier, printer and colour scanning functionality. ZSP models are equipped with Ricoh’s new smart operation panel. Function upgrades include Fax and PS3.

A modular design enables MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 to be tailored to operational needs. The standard 1150 sheet paper capacity can be increased to 3150 sheets with the addition of a 2000 sheet large capacity tray. Finishing can be automated by adding a space-saving internal fi nisher, a high-capacity staple fi nisher or automated booklet fi nisher.

MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 are successors to MP 2352, MP 2852 and MP 3352. They are workfl ow enabled, offer improved productivity and use less energy than their predecessors. Ricoh’s next generation controller provides access to a raft of new features, including Distributed Scan Management (DSM), point and click printing, ID card copying and a searchable PDF option.

The new models are equipped with a high speed/high capacity ARDF which speeds processing and, running at speeds of 25 and 30 ppm, MP 2553 and MP 3053 print faster than their predecessors, improving productivity. A low TEC (total energy consumption) rating (1.303/1.674/1.826 kWh) and Energy Star v2.0 compliance will make the new MFPs attractive to eco-conscious customers.

2. Concept

Common Functionality

MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 feature Ricoh’s next generation controller architecture. Sharing the same intuitive user interface and running the same intelligent workfl ow tools as other Ricoh MFPs, MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 can be installed as part of a uniform enterprise-wide imaging solution. Intelligent Workfl ow

The next generation controller provides control over the document workfl ow. Distributed Scan Management (DSM), for example, allows the administrator to predetermine scan settings. Print output can be ‘locked’ until released by the originator on the collection, and security information can be automatically appended to every document. Ricoh’s Streamline NX is available as an option.

A3 / A4 Solution

MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 can be confi gured to print, copy, scan and fax. Letters and reports can be printed on A4 paper, gantt charts and fi nancial spread sheets on A3 paper. Documents can be scanned in full colour and important messages can be sent by fax. A range of function upgrades and peripheral options allows the new MFPs to be tailored to operational needs.

MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 are ready to print within 15 seconds of powering up and, using the electronic timer, can be programmed to switch on/off automatically. Urgent one-off prints and copies are delivered in just 4.2 seconds whilst longer runs are produced at speeds of 25, 30 or 33 A4 pages a minute. The integral duplex runs at full engine speed and the ARDF scans colour and black-and-white documents at a speed of 80 images per minute.

Tailored to Need

3. Positioning

MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 are designed to meet the imaging requirements of mid-sized workgroups. They are positioned between MP 2001/2501SP (20/25ppm) and MP 4002/5002SP (40/50ppm) in Ricoh’s B&W A3 multifunctional product range. These products, together with MP 6002/7502/9002SP (60/75/90ppm) enable Ricoh to meet the imaging needs of small workgroups through to large departments with a common product set. The products all meet A6 to A3 needs, share Ricoh’s advanced next generation controller architecture and can be confi gured with software/hardware upgrades to meet specifi c operational needs.

4. Comparison with Predecessor

MP 2553, MP 3053 and MP 3353 succeed MP 2352, MP 2852 and MP 3352 in Ricoh’s A3 black-and-white multifunctional product range. The new MFPs incorporate Ricoh’s Next Generation Controller architecture, are more productive and use less energy than their predecessors. In addition to the new controller, ZSP versions of the new products ship with Ricoh’s new smart device user interface.

Ricoh’s Next Generation Controller provides access to a raft of workfl ow features which simplify operation, increase productivity and enhance security. New features include Distributed Scan Management (DSM), point and click printing, ID card copying and a searchable PDF option. The smart device interface (ZSP models) is an interactive interface that can be navigated in a similar fashion to the interface of a smart phone or tablet PC.
