EDI TORIAL
Portuguese colonialists are still in the sane position. The his
torical evolution of social relations among peoples in the world has
not been understood by portuguese colonialists. In the last session
of the United Nations General Assembly the portuguese representatives
tried once more to convince the international opinion that their
conception of self determination is the only way of solving the pro
blems created by imperialism in our countries. Inviting the African
States to "discuss", in a Portuguese way, Portugal was tr ing to
cheat the African delegates who never had experience wffhi the portu
guese.
The portuguese allies never take concrete action to solve the
portuguese colonial problem in Africa. They always present ambiguous
positions:
While they are openly helping Portugal supplying her with arms
and other equipment they also show a smile as a camouflage to cover
their other face.
The U.S.A. continues to help Portugal through NATO and directly.
In the U.N. brother E.MONDLANE, president of FRELIMO, has given evi
dences of the complicity of the USA and other NATO powers in the na
zist policy of South Africa and Portugal.
We know very well that some of those countries which want to
present themselves as our friends today thio7 a e doing so because we
are fighting. But at the sane time they are helpingSalazar's policy.
They are not really our friends. They are preparing the ground to
continue in their position of exploiters. Are they not the ones who
exploit our country with Portugal?
The arms used by the portuguese army in our country are made in
USA, in West Germany, Britain, France, all of them NATO members.
We repeat, those who wish to be our friends must chose betwen
Portugal and us. We don't ask them to come and liberate our country
but to stop giving help to the Salazar fascists.
We are decided to fight to 1 e bitter end. We are conscious of
th e difficulties of our struggle but we are sure that the victory
belongs to us. Our people are decided, our revolution must continue
until we finish with all exploitation.
We have friends in many countries, Africa is decided to liberate
itself, but victory will depend only on us. No other people than
Mozambican can liberate llozabique. With the support of our friends
we shall shorten the time of our struggle. We don't want them to

come and liberate our motherland. Mozambique's liberation is our own
responsability.
The people of Africa, the 250 million of human beings, have
awakened and are standing up ready to fight. Imperialism can no more
endure in Africa, even if it changes continually its external
appearance. We are determined to smash the shackles of imperialism.
We are decided to strive for the liberation of the rest of the African
nations.
New African states are joining the big family of Addis Ababa
- just recently KENYA and ZANZIBAR became independent in East Africa.
The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland was broken by the force and
will of African people.
Our struggle for national independence is going ahead. As we
always said the national independence is only the first step of ourrevolution. In order to achieve our complete revolution we shall have
to coordinate our action against international imperialism with the
revolutionary peoples of Asia, Latin America, Europe who also fight
for the complete freedom of their countries.
THE UNION OF OUR NATIONAL FORCES plus THE UNION OF ALL THE
REVOLUTIONAR Y FORCES IN THE WORLD equals D STRUCTIOU OF
I1PERIALISM and OPPRJSSION, plus THE ESTABLISHL!L&T OF PEACE
AND GOOD WILL AmONG THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD.
WHAT DO WE WANT?
(as published in our national bulletin)
We are fighting against the Portuguese colonialists, instruments
of im.perialism, who control the wealth of our country, MOAMBIQUE.
We are fighting because we wish to free ourselves from those
exploiters, those robbers of our people.
We want to free our country, MOqAMBIQUE. We want to reconstruct
our land, we are fighting in order to have a free Nation.
A free Nation means:to have no more slaves, to have schools for
all, health services for all, work for all, land for all to cultivate
and produce food.
FREE NATION is doing away with hunger;
FREE NATION is to end all misery;
FREE NATION is to end all prostitution;
FREE NATION is to do away with illiteracy;

FREE NATION means doing away with the exploitation of the black
man by the whiteman, of the national by the foreigner,
of man by man;
FREE NATION means the elimination of all the concesionary
monopolies dealing in cotton, sugar, sisal, tea,
which benefit only one person or a small number of
people;
FREE NATION means to have justice and respect for human being.
We want our Nation to be free, so that there can be harmony,
better life and good relations among our people.
The foreigner who may wish come to our country as a friend will
be received as an equal and a friend; he who wishes to rob and
exploit our people and land will be swept out with the rest of the
portuguese colonialists.
Now we must fight to free our Nation. Tomorrow we will work to
reconstruct our country.
In order to triumpl we must unite.
UNITED FROPI TIM ROVUA TO TH E MAPUTO, we shall win!
MOA[I BICANS UNITE! Unite in the MOAfBIQUE LIBERATION FRONT.
All Mogambicans must unite in the Ploambique Liber.tion Front.
FRONT means the head. It is the head that thinks. It's necessary
to have a head in order to think and show the mainer of fighting
against the enemy. All Mozambicans must join the Front, listen and
follow the orders of the front. It is to this Front, this head which
studies the best way of ending the slavery and the human exploitation
in our country, MOAICBI 4UE.
LIBERATION means to rid our Nation of oppressors, exploiters,
of portuguese colonialists. It means to make of each Mogambican a
free human being, a citizen of a free country, MOqAMBIQUE.
MOqAMBIQUE needs no explanation, it is our country which goes
from the ROVUVIA to the MAPUTO rivers and is full of natural resources.
To enable us to write it and read it the Mozambique Liberation
Front must be called FRELIMO, from
FRnte LIberta~ao !ambique
F R E L I 0
We must join FRELIimO to fight. FRELIMO wants to liberate Mogam
bique. FRELIMO wants to do away with all slavery. All of us must
unite in FRELIMO, from the Rovuma to the Maputo. FRELIMO will do
awft with all forced labour (shibalo). FRELIMO will do away with all
big concessionary exploiters. FRELIMO will fight to the glorious end
for a FREE MOZAMBIQUE. UNITED WE WILL WIN. FREEDOI OR DEATH

FRELIMO DIPLOMATIC ACTIVITIES
While the work of organizing the Mozambican people in the
interior goes on, FRELIMO continues its programme of contacts with
the various countries of the world, explaining its position
concerning the struggle against colonialism.
During the months of October, November and December 1rother
Eduardo Chivambo MONDLANE, President of FRE1IMO undertook a long tripto America Europe~and Asia to present our case it the United Nations,
and to make representations in West Germany against the reported
economic activities of big german financial interests in Portuguese

to hoodwink the African representatives and to peoples of the world
with the so-called overseas organic law which the portuguese was
claiming is aimed at applying the principle of self-cetcrmination.
In this connexion FRELIMO issueda declaration as follows:
"Next week there will take place in New York a conference
betwn the Portuguese Government and the delegations of the Indepen
dent African countries.
This conference is for the purpose of discussing problems rela
ting to the independence of the Portuguese colonies.
Considering the importance of this conference r-nd the
consequences that mighthave for the future of the Mozambican people,
the Central Committee of FIRELI0 considers it its duty to declare the
following:
FRELIM0 has always considered it import!7nt and appropriate for
the well-being of peoples that the rulers of the various countries or
their representatives should meet and discuss general and specific
problems that affect humanity.
FRELIMO considered it useful that Independent African countries
should employ all effective means, to force Portugal to accept the political positions defended by the Nacionalist Organizations that repre
sent the peoples of the Portuguese colonies.
It was thus that, on various occasions and particulary in theMemorandum presented at Addis Ababa, FRELIMO depended upon the AfricanStates to support the political positions of the Mozambican peopledefined in it.
This Memorandum of FRELIMO declared:
"The struggle for National Liberation in which our people are
engaged concerns all of Africa".
And we add:"In order to make our struggle more effective, our
organization decided to consolidate the natural alliance that exist
betwen the nationalist movements and the independent African countriest
Finally among the concrete proposals that we wished would besupported by all the Heads of African States, united in Addis Ababa,we indicated in the first place the necessity of having: on politicalplane the support of our political positions against Portuguese colonialism.
It is in this spirit that beforethe meeting beten the representatives of Portugal and the African Independent Countries, the Cen
tral Committee of FRELIMO reaffirms its conviction that the AfricanCountries in order to convey into their aim of supporting FRELIMO in
the struggle for the respect and the realization of the aspirations of
the Mozambican people, and in the spirit of Addis Ababa, will be ourfaithfull interpreters and make the Portuguese Government understand
that:
1. The struggle of Mozambican people is a just struggle.
2. The struggle for the National Independence of Mozambique, is
the struggle of the entire Mozambican people and concerns

first of all, the Mozambican people.
3. The future of Mozambique must be discussed betwen Portugal
and us. But there can be no negociations whatsoever recogni

BROTHER URIA SIMANGO
V i S I T I ITG E A S T G R M A N Y
0000
Brother Uria SIMIA 1 G0, Vice President of FRELIMO, returned today,
30th December, to Dar-es-Salaam.
As we have noted in the last number of Mozamnbican Revolution,
Brother Simango left in September 63 together with brothers Mondlane
and Sarfukhan, our Permanent Representative in Cairo, to open
officially the FRELIMO permanent Mission in Cairo, U.A.R.
After two months there he went to Europe to attend the World
Council of Peace in Warsaw. There he was joined by brother Dos Santos.
After the Peace Conference, they in the country a few days more
in order tom some members of the government and the Polish African
Friendship Society. All talks were held in a friendly sprit.
When the talks were over in Warsaw the two above comrades visi
ted East Germany. During their stay in East Berlin they held talks
with some members of the Government and some organip!ations like the
G.D.R. International Labour Organisation, International Youth Movement,
Journalists' Association, GDR Women Organisation, the GDR Solidarity
Committee, etc. The main theme in all those talks was the total
liberation of Africa, particulary of Mogambique. All those organisa
tions showed great sympathy for our struggle. The talks were crowned
with great sucess.
While in East Germany they had an opportunity of seeing some of
the extermination camps during the Nazi period. They came to conclu
sion that the fascist portuguese government is applying the same
german fascist system during the war, namely selling labourers to
industries for so much money per person, etc. They identified hitlerism
with the portuguese colonial rule where human right and dignity was
not counted.
