Apartment(in Downtown Hong Kong)

•An exercise into the extreme conditions of TIGHT SPACE , this 344 Square Foot apartment has been transformed into 24 different rooms, by the means of sliding walls and folding spaces, creating efficiency of space in a high-intensity and hyper-urbanized environment

•Shape-Shifting spaces allow for unique and personal experiences in architecture that brings out a new concept of how people inhabit space

•Awards: Design for Asia Award 2009, Hong Kong Design Centre- DFA Grand Award “A Domestic Transformer”

•These structures can be assembled and disassembled in different ways to accommodate a wide range of changing needs

•Some of the panels are insulated and contain windows and doors. These panels can completely enclose spaces that are heated and cooled

•Others are panels that fold in or out, over and around, open platforms to shade the sun, deflect the rain, or block the wind

•Some of the panels even unfold from the face of the cubes to become places to sit, places to sleep, places to work, or places to eat

•These structures are proposed to have revolving floors, some of which will move on command, that will provide residents with an ever-changing shape along with multi-view points

•Its modular construction and freedom of movement/change, Allows for floors to be divided into modular connections, where functions could be connected/disconnected
