“I am very confident in the team with me to help shoulder the responsibilities and help us all achieve our common goals. In my eyes there are no big or small companies, no active or allied members but only stakeholders in our great industry who are working in their own way in trying to make a difference. I am proud to be a part of IATO and hope you all will give me the opportunity to once again humbly contribute to the best of my abilities for the success of our association.”

“Unlike in the past many IATO administrations, this is the first time a team has been formed with some many skilled and experienced people. This team will have a power that has never been seen before and have a will to do things without fear. No one in this team has personal agendas and no one has to prove anything to anyone. I am standing by people who will take on any situation head on and I am proud to have this opportunity to serve my national association.”

“An association’s job is to deliver on the members investment in their membership. We need to move association away from just being a logo on a business card to a facilitator of business. IATO has seen a steep decline in its active member participation over the past four years. This needs to be reversed before we start losing members and become irrelevant. I am tired of having to struggle every day in our business. I want change. I want a new vision.”

“Change is needed not for the sake of it. Change is needed because today we are all in a position where our businesses are fragile. You need a leadership that has been in your shoes, who operates in your levels, who understands your needs. You need a leadership that worked at the grassroots level. Time is running out and unless the industry takes corrective action now, it may be too late.”

“I have worked in the past under Mr Goyal’s leadership. I have seen his passion & his honesty. I am hurt at the state of affairs today. I want to bring in greater accountability & transparency in how your money is handled. You need to have greater reporting. You need to have answers to your questions. With this team, I know these changes will finally be possible. New systems will be introduced that will set a permanent clean way of working for the future.”

“I think India needs to focus some more on short haul markets which are quite frankly doing much better than the west. Our government & our association have long ignored this and this is hurting our industry. Our over reliance on the west has created a situation today where our industry is hurting due to their weak economies. Better focus on new and emerging markets is what I will push for. Along with my colleagues we hope to add a bit of experience in how we can focus our efforts better.”

Rajiv Mehra, if anyone has been to an IATO convention in the past 15 years, there has been one constant – the smiling

faces of Rajiv Mehra and his family. It is recognised that Rajiv has single handily run IATO’s convention registration &

accommodation services flawlessly in every past convention for 17 years.

E.M. Najeeb has been IATO South India Chapter head for over a decade. Najeeb’s induction into our team as a EC member is clear indication of our desire to bring in great

communication with our members across the country and give new direction to the way chapters are handled. Najeeb is one of the founding members of the Kerala Travel Mart and is

also President of the Confederation of Kerala Tourism Industry (CKTI) apart from being actively involved with many

other development bodies.

Amaresh Tiwari brings in a new school of thought and represents the long ignored newer companies of the industry. Amaresh has been working in the industry for over 18 years and jumped into the fray after sheer frustration of seeing his

business go in circles. He wants to see IATO become the premier national body of Tourism Industry, governed by members and run professionally. He wants IATO to look

at setting-up mechanisms which draw the rules, regulations, liability clause, etc for the industry.

Ramesh Wattal is another old industry hand who has joined the team to make a difference. With over 31 years of

experience under his belt, Ramesh has seen it all. His vision to IATO ? “To see IATO as the highest Pan-India body

representing & accrediting tour operators. If elected, he hopes to help streamline communication channels between members leading to balanced & sustainable growth.

We Will...

Work on a strategy to revamp the IATO secretariat and hire a full time professional head on the

lines of PATA, ASTA, NASSCOM, CII etc…

Ensure that IATO operates independently of changing office bearers with stability and fairness in its

functioning…
