In March 2008 and July 2010, DMRC exercised the options for additional 84 and 114 MOVIA metro cars. In 2011, another 76 cars were ordered, bringing the total number of metro cars ordered to 614 cars. The first units of carbodies, bogies and propulsion system were manufactured by Bombardier sites in Germany and Sweden. Thereafter, the main production was undertaken by Bombardier site in Savli, Vadodara. Key elements of the complete design were produced at Bombardier's Indian engineering centre in Hyderabad in cooperation with Bombardier's Västerås (Sweden) site. This project envisages a design approach that enables a high degree of localisation and transfer of technology processes for Bombardier. DMRC will be operating the largest fleet of MOVIA metro cars in the world, benefiting from economies of scale in both acquisition and maintenance costs. The modern MOVIA high- capacity metro vehicles integrate the world's most advanced technologies such as stainless steel carbodies and the reliable BOMBARDIER* MITRAC* propulsion and control system featuring IP technology. The flexible, modular design is equipped with BOMBARDIER* FLEXX* Metro 3000 bogies, an extremely robust and reliable design, specifically adapted by our engineers to suit the existing infrastructure. During the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi the MOVIA metro trains were a cornerstone of the mobility plan successfully implemented by DMRC.

In July 2007, Bombardier Transportation was awarded a contract by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) to supply 340 BOMBARDIER* MOVIA* metro cars in 4, 6 and 8-car trainset configuration for operation on the extended Delhi metro network.

DMRC will be operating the largest fleet of MOVIA metro cars in the world, benefiting from economies of scale in both

acquisition and maintenance costs. The modern MOVIA high-capacity metro vehicles integrate the world's most advanced technologies such as stainless steel carbodies and the reliable BOMBARDIER* MITRAC* propulsion and control system featuring IP technology.
