Q: 2012 Wristband PolicyAll festival attendees, general admission, VIP or otherwise, are required at all times to wear their appropriate wristband, issued by the festival. Those failing to do so, or those failing to wear the wristband in the appropriate manner, will be denied entry to the festival grounds. Safeguard your wristband, as the festival cannot issue a new one to you, under any circumstances.

Q: Am I allowed to exit and re-enter the festival?Yes. If it is a three-day weekend pass or VIP pass, you will be allowed to enter and exit the festival at any time between noon and 12 a.m. May 26 – 28. If you purchase a one-day pass, you will be allowed to enter and exit the festival at any time between noon and 12 a.m. on that day only.

Q: When is the box office open at Hart Plaza? Where is it located?The box office will be open on Friday, May 25 in the afternoon. Specific information will be posted as we get closer to the festival. The box office will be located at the northeast corner of the festival grounds, at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and Bates.

Hours for the box office for the rest of the festival weekend will be posted shortly as well.

Q: I want to change my ticket order from a weekend general admission pass to a VIP pass, what do I do?You can upgrade from a weekend general admission pass to a weekend VIP pass by contacting our ticket provider, Music Today, at [email protected] or by calling 800.594.8499.

Q: Did ticket prices increase compared to the 2011 festival?Movement’s goal is to continually provide a more valuable experience for our guests for a reasonable, competitive ticket price to the event, every year. The prices for general admission weekend passes and VIP weekend passes have slightly increased when compared to last year but, just as always, we offered an exclusive early-bird ticket promotion through our e-newsletter, website, and social media channels.

The VIP plan would work as follows:

Payment Plan:*$70.00 – Initial Deposit$65.00 – Second Payment (automatically processed on 3/15)$65.00 – Final Payment (automatically processed on 4/19)

*All service and applicable shipping fees will be charged on the initial deposit.

By selecting the payment plan option you agree to pay the amount indicated above on the corresponding date. Any default on the payment schedule will result in a forfeiture of all collected funds. No refund will be given.

Ticket ShippingTickets will ship beginning in early to mid-May 2012. Please remember to have your tickets shipped to an address where you or your authorized representative will be in early May. You will be notified via email when your tickets have been shipped.

General Information

Q: What time does Movement begin and end?It begins at noon each day and ends at midnight. The first day of the 2012 festival is Saturday, May 26 and the last day of the festival is Monday, May 28.

Q: Will you be posting artist set times in advance?Yes. As we get closer to the event, a complete schedule will be released on the festival website. There will also be signage posted at each stage with that stage’s schedule. Additionally, schedules are included in the Official Festival Guide, available to you at the festival, free of charge. A wide variety of helpful information, including set times, artist bios and samples and a festival map will also be available on the Official Festival Smartphone App.

Q: I’m a professional photographer/journalist for a news organization. How do I apply for media credentials?Please click here for media credentials application.

Q: I’m interested in volunteering. Where do I sign up?We love our volunteers! Please click here for more info.

Q: Can I pass out flyers inside the festival?No printed materials, including flyers and stickers, may be distributed on the festival property, without prior written consent from the organizers.

Q: What are the 2012 Disability access and accommodations?Most of the festival site is easily accessible by wheelchair. Please check with us before the festival by sending an email with your concerns and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Q: What is the policy for kids at Movement?Movement is a family event designed to be enjoyed by all ages. Kids 12 and under enjoy free admission to the festival.

Q: If I need medical attention while on the festival grounds, where should I go?Please immediately speak to the nearest security guard.There will be one permanent medical facility located on the grounds (location to be announced shortly) and several roaming EMS personnel to assist you.

Q: Is there a lost and found on the festival grounds?Yes. Please return any found items, and inquire about lost items, in the Security Office. We will be announcing the location of the office shortly.

Q: Will there be lockers on the festival grounds?No, there will not be any lockers available on-site.

Q: Will there be Wi-Fi on the festival grounds? If so, how do I access it?Yes! We will be again offering free Wi-Fi to our guests on the festival property during Movement weekend. We will be announcing additional details regarding this shortly.

DETROIT MARRIOTT AT THE RENAISSANCE CENTERThe Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center is located in the center of the action, adjacent to Hart Plaza. Guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows with spectacular views. For reservations, please visit or call 800.352.0831.

Hostel Detroit is now open.Hostel Detroit boasts 16 single beds for $25 to $30 per night in community rooms as well as five queen beds in private rooms for $47 dollars per night. Available for the Movement Weekend only and while supplies last, Hostel Detroit’s big backyard can accommodate campsites. 15’ x 15’ spaces are $50 per night. All campers are free to use all of the hostel’s amenities, including three full kitchens, four private bathrooms and the common rooms. Movement Electronic Music Festival attendees will be able to take a break from the beats pulsating throughout Hart Plaza May 26 – 28 to explore the landmarks of Detroit Techno with bike tours provided by Wheelhouse Detroit.

Wheelhouse Detroit, located on E. Atwater Street along the Detroit River, will guide the two Techno-themed bike tours they have dubbed “Techno in the 313.”

The first tour will be on Sunday, May 27 from noon to 4 p.m. It will be the “long” tour that will go for as many as 21 miles, taking riders past historic electronic music sites like The Music Institute, Underground Resistance HQ, and the Packard Plant. The tour price is $30; with bike rental, it’s $40. This “long” tour is recommended for more experienced riders.

The second tour will be Monday, May 28 from noon until 3 p.m. It will be the “short” tour. A rider will see landmarks such as The Music Institute, Underground Resistance HQ, and the East Riverfront Warehouse District. The tour price is $25; with bike rental, it’s $35.

Both bike tours are capped at 15 people to ensure safety and a personal experience. Each tour will have a trained tour guide and a mechanical sweeper along with a lock and helmet. To book a tour or learn more, visit

The organizers reserve the right to refuse admission to the festival site at all times. Alcohol, bottles, cans, glass, animals and sound systems may not be brought on to the festival site. All bags, purses and backpacks are subject to search.

It is forbidden to bring any type of professional recording device, either audio or video, onto the festival grounds.

The organizers reserve the right to record, both on film and audiotape, people who attend the festival. No compensation, financial or otherwise will be offered.

Unless prior written permission of the organization is obtained, commercial enterprise on or around terrain is forbidden.

The organizers reserve the right to alter the times, programming, date and location of the festival.

Attendance at the festival is entirely at the risk of the attendee. The organization is not responsible for any damages to visitors or their possessions.

At events with music amplification, hearing damage might occur. It is your responsibility to take preventative measures against this. The organization takes no responsibility for this.

Persons attending the festival agree to be searched at the entrance of the festival site. Security shall take possession of any prohibited objects, including those of which they deem can be used as weapons.

Persons behaving in an aggressive manner will be immediately ejected.
