THE MOVE MEDIA RIGHTS FESTIVAL OF THAILAND (MMRF) 2011

The first Human Rights Film and Art festival titled ‘Move Media Rights Festival (MMRF) 2
ndedition focusing on South East Asia, but covering the wider Asian region,
will be organized in Thailand.
We are calling for film entries for the forthcoming festival which will be held in three
locations; Bangkok, Mae Sod and Chiang Mai, Thailand in mid January 2011.
MMRF will feature documentary film/video productions within the framework of the last
5 years. MMRF is confident that at this year’s festival at more than 40 films would bescreened including feature, documentaries and expositions on human rights and humansecurity issues. MMRF also wish to honour deserving artists and film makers. MMRF
encourages applications from emerging film makers with new work focusing on the SEA
region
MMRF encourages applications from organizations working in promoting human rights
issues through films to use this festival as a venue for promotion and advocacy. MMRFhas limited funds and acceptance of the film does not guarantee full sponsorship to attend
the festival.
The preferred format will be on DVD and ‘screenable quality’.
The program will run over a period of 5 days, and include many activities such as
• Approximately 40 human rights related films
• Photo/Art Exhibitions by migrants children arts
• Performances and/products by indigenous artist groups of rights relatedorganizations and ethnic community groups
• Ten dialogues on core issue/ theme based films with film maker/ expert/ victim/ producers in the presence of audience and media.
• Workshop on film and human rights

Area of issues/themes
The theme of the 2nd edition of the festival is ‘Indigenous People & Ethnic Minorities in
Asia’. However other contemporary rights related issues of the Mekong region, Asia and the
world will be added for the selection of films. There will be the following 7 specific topics
documentary films in the second edition of the festival.
- Peace and post conflicts resolution
- Human trafficking, smuggling and human security
- Children, women and youth rights
- Rights of refugees and migrant workers
- Rights of indigenous people and ethnic minorities
- Global warming, climate change and environmental rights
- Rights of lesbian, gay, transsexual and bisexuals
The MMRF works in partnership with Amnesty International- Thailand, Centre of the
Human Rights and Social Development (CHRSD), Mahidol University, South East AsiaRegional Cooperation in Human Development (SEARCH), Thai Film Foundation andMove Media Communications’ (MMC) is core partner of the event.
MMRF invites all filmmakers, producers; directors enter their human rights festivals,short films and documentaries. You will find together with this letter, an “Entry Form”
for a film submission. Deadline for entry is 30th
