Gunderson Uniform & Linen Rental, a commercial laundry serving Northeastern Wisconsin, installed new Girbau laundry equip-ment in 1998. The equipment dramatically improved laundry production to nearly 3,000 pounds per hour. Simultaneously, the equipment reduced chemical consumption by 40 percent and decreased water and sewer volume. From three plants located in Wisconsin, Gunderson serves customers in the drycleaning, dust control, healthcare, hospitality and food-service industries.

Since the addition of a Girbau Industrial Ironer with two rolls, linen production and sales have doubled at Mountain Fresh Laundry. The new ironer eliminated the need to run additional shifts to keep up with linen volume and opened doors to new, profitable markets. Mountain Fresh now requires fewer employees to produce double the production! Moreover, the company can cater to large hotel accounts, which is key to bolstered profits!

Among the largest hotel franchises in the world, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts boasts more than 100 hotels in 15 different countries. Since its founding, Iberostar has worked closely with Girbau to design and equip each of its hotel laundries. Outfitted with Girbau equipment, Iberostar laundries in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, Brazil and Morocco collectively process around 116,000 pounds of laundry each day.

Opened in June of 2008, Lavanderia Salduba processes over 19,840 pounds of laundry during each 8 hour shift. The laundry caters to hospitals, hotels and restaurants.

In 2005, Girbau modernized the 25-year-old laundry operation at the University Hospital Puerta del Mar. A newly constructed external laundry was developed with two zones – a dirty laundry zone, where laundry is washed, and a clean zone, for disin-fected textiles. A sanitary barrier between the two zones helps eliminate contamination. The new laundry facility has dramatically improved sanitary laundry production using less labor, water, natural gas and electricity.

This commercial laundry caters to the health care industry and handles 23 tons of laundry per day, including flat linens, cloth-ing and towels. By replacing their existing three-station feeder with a Girbau DRF four-station feeder, the laundry turns out 250 large items and 280 medium-sized items per work station per hour – a significant production improvement.

Hans Metzler began his laundry business in 2007 purchasing an existing laundry in Dornbirn. In early 2008, they moved to a wider building in Hohenems. During the relocation he upgraded his washing and ironing equipment. Girbau was his partner in the project.

The Kangwon Land Resort is South Korea’s first multi-resort complex and gaming facility. Outfitted with Girbau equipment, the laundry efficiently processes seven tons of laundry daily! The Kangwon’s laundry facility is highly automated – featuring a monorail system that optimizes efficiency. The mammoth-sized laundry seamlessly integrates the laundry process – from loading, washing, drying, feeding, ironing and folding– while conserving water, natural gas and electricity.

The Grenat Laundry recently increased laundry production and revenue by more than 40 percent! The improved productivity and revenue are a direct result of new industrial Girbau laundry equipment. Girbau partnered with Grenat Laundry to develop an energy efficient facility capable of seamlessly processing a variety of items in less time, using less labor. Indusal Rias Altas Laundry, a laundry/linen service that caters to hotels and resorts, processes more than 3,300 pounds of laundry per hour! Fully equipped with Girbau laundry products, the facility includes large washing, drying and ironing areas, complete with a TBS-50 Batch Washer, several dryers and two flatwork ironers. The facility perfectly cleans and finishes bedding, towels and table linens and then delivers them to clients.

New in 2006, the 280-room, 27-story Hesperia Tower boasts an on-premise laundry capable of processing eight tons of linens daily. Designed and equipped by Girbau, the laundry is highly automated with washing, drying and ironing zones. Only 40 percent of the laundry processed by the laundry requires drying. The remaining 60 percent is transferred directly into the ironing zone without passing through the drying area – saving natural gas and improving laundry production!

Four Russian railway laundries, operated by Rikvest, ensure long-distance trains are always fully stocked with high-quality, clean linens. Prior to the Girbau equipment installation at Samara station, linens were hand fed into ironers and hand folded. Now the sheets are folded automatically and delivered stacked in piles of 10. The Samara station alone processes more than 12 tons of laundry, during just one working shift.

Started in 2007, Valentin Imperial Maya is a five star, all inclusive 540 all suites facility. The laundry was designed by Girbau to accommodate a 12 module tunnel system for the large volume of room linens, food and beverage laundry, uniforms and guest valet. With a 540 room expansion slated for 2011, the facility has made preparations to include a second Girbau tunnel system and ironing equipment.

The Marina d’Or group boasts a 184-room five-star hotel, a 245-room four-star hotel, a 144-room three-star hotel and more than 20 apartment complexes. Before installing Girbau equipment, more than 70 percent of its linens were outsourced for cleaning. By developing its own laundry facility, Marina d’Or successfully gained total control over laundry cleaning and availability and cut outsourcing costs. The highly automated laundry processes about 16,500 pounds of linen daily!

Lehleiter Laundry began operation in 1963 with open-pocket washing machines. In 1979 they expanded with the acquistition of a batch washer and expanded again in 2008. The laundry processes linen for hotels, restaurants, nursing homes and hospitals. With 70 employees, Lehleiter processes over 13 tons of laundry each day!

ALBACETE HOSpITAL COMpLEX LAUNDRYCastilla La Mancha, Spain

The Albacete Hospital complex, with a 700-bed capacity, is comprised of the Albacete General Hospital and the Hospital Nuestra Senora del Perpetuo Socorro. In 2001, Girbau led a massive renovation of the complex’s external laundry facility. Girbau worked in partnership with hospital staff to design the laundry to meet specific production needs. The renovation included the addition of conveyors and ironing lines that significantly improved laundry productivity.
