Introducing a new seminar concept for 2020

Since 2008 I have been presenting the Racecar Data Acquisition and

Analysis seminar around the world. This course still proves quite popular

and in the meantime I created some spin-offs from this one, the biggest one

being the Motorsport Engineering seminar.

I’ve been playing with the idea a long time to develop a course of a longer

duration where more focus could be put on the practical aspect. I want to

give the participants a thorough overview of what skills and knowledge are

required from race, data or performance engineers working in motor racing.

The idea is not to present a 5-day theoretical lecture, but to actually work on

practical examples. The tools necessary to do this will be provided during

the seminar, where students will be able to work with them from their own

laptops. From that point of view I am really happy to be able to announce

the cooperation with HH Development and Chassissim.

HH Development provides timing and race strategy software widely used in

all major championships around the world. Trial licenses of the HH Timing

software will be provided to the seminar participants to go through some

real-world examples.

Chassissim has been a long-time partner in these courses. In this seminar

their software will be used to introduce the students to laptime simulation

and go over some case studies about how this type of simulation can be

integrated in the daily work of a race engineer.

The physical and mental aspect of working in motor racing is something not

to be underestimated and has an enormous influence on performance. For

the first time this subject will be discussed during a presentation given by

Saartje Vandendriessche, author of the book ‘Tough Body Strong Mind’.

This course is developed for race, data and performance engineers in motor

racing of all experience levels, engineering students and racecar drivers.

During 5 intensive days we will make sure that you are equipped with the

knowledge and tools that will give you an edge over the competition.

I hope to welcome you soon at this new seminar!

Best regards,

Jorge Segers

➢ Keynote speech Saartje Vandendriessche:

‘Tough Body, Strong Mind’

Motor racing is an industry where

the pressure to perform is very high,

resulting in long working days,

extensive travel and high stress

levels for race team staff. This

requires a very specific mindset

from the people involved.

In this presentation, Saartje

Vandendriessche, author of the

book ‘Tough Body Strong Mind’

discusses how we can prepare

ourselves physically and mentally

for such an environment.

Testimonials

“When I learned that Jorge Segers, a Belgian race engineer, the youngest FIA GT Crew Chief ever and the author of a landmark textbook on data acquisition

released earlier in the year was presenting his Seminar on Data Acquisition in Orlando leading up to the Performance Racing Industry trade show, it was a no-

brainer for me to attend.

While I am more than familiar with most interfaces and interpretation programs to divine the subtleties of driver performance, I wanted to learn more about the

whole picture of what to do with the mountains of data generated monitoring not only the driver, but also the car. Jorge’s presentation was fantastic!

Suffice to say that I learned more in two days than in the last two years on how to glean useful information about the function and the properties of the car AND

the driver! Quite remarkable how listening to the author expand on simple passages in his book can cause the light to come on.”

Peter Krause, Director of Krause & Associates LLC

“This seminar will pay for itself in both money and time as we get more value from our investment in data acquisition equipment and track time.“

Kamal Amer, Director Star Racing Technology

"Great program, lots of useful information and new ideas to utilize our current data.“

Kirk Spencer, driver GrandAm Koni Sportscar Challenge for Georgian Bay Motorsports

“Very happy to see the partnership between Porsche Carrera Cup Brazil and Jorge Segers become a way for engineers to start in motorsport. We see previous

students of this course doing a great job in F1, DTM, Porsche Supercup, Brazilian Stockcar and other major championships. Congratulations to everyone,

because we now the path is not easy."

Enzo Morrone, Program Manager Porsche GT3 Cup Brasil

"This program is great for anyone who needs to further their knowledge or get their feet wet in the subject. The knowledge and personality of the instructor make

this course what it is."

Lee Stark, Student Purdue University Indianapolis

"As a driver I enjoyed the driver analysis and car vital signs modules. I believe that all the topics will help me communicate better with my engineer at the

racetrack. I really enjoyed the program and I feel it could help members of the racing community at all levels.“

Ashley McCalmont, driver GrandAm Koni Sportscar Challenge for Georgian Bay Motorsports
