Message from the Principal
Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
As the school begins to adopt our Positive Behaviour for Learning methodology, you will notice some changes to the way our merit and discipline policies are implemented. At the last P&C meeting we discussed the following changes. 1. Free and Frequent System:
To recognise and acknowledge
positive behaviour in the playground we will be introducing Kookies. Kookies will be given out to students when they are caught being a Safe Respectful Learner. Students will hand these Kookies to their classroom teacher and at each assembly 3 Kookies will be drawn from a barrel for a prize. After each assembly all Kookies will be collected into one big barrel and when certain levels are reached, all students at school will be entitled to a special reward. This may include a whole school disco, ice-block day, out of uniform day etc. For the moment, Kookies will look like this image below. Once our graphic designer finishes with our award winning design, this image will be transferred onto the Kookie.
2. Long and Strong System:
Replacing our current Gold Award system will be the below system:
Students displaying positive behaviour will receive a stamp on a card / chart. The student needs to achieve the following number of stamps to achieve the different Merit Levels. At the end of each term, a special PBL assembly will be held to award students with a certificate that reflects the number of stamps achieved. 28 – Glendy 56 – Bronze 84 – Silver 112 – Gold

The main way a student can achieve a stamp is through the following;
Punctuality (1 stamp each week) Purple or Green plate only (1 stamp
each week) Complete set tasks to the best of their
ability (1 Stamp each week) Students can also earn stamps through;
Receiving a class merit award at
assembly (1 stamp) Receiving the Principals award at
assembly (3 stamps) Students cannot lose stamps or move down levels. However, is a student displays persistent or severe misbehaviour then the Principal may remove a student from a reward privilege in consultation with the student’s teacher and parent. The above system will begin as a trial in week 5 (next week).
If you have any questions, please see your child’s teacher. Kind Regards, Nathan Forbes Principal
Please be advised that the school’s athletics carnival will be held on Friday 16th June on the school oval. All parents are invited to attend on the day. If you are free to help on the day, please see Mr Szczudlo.
