Recommended for: Fans of the master sleuth, those interested in Charleston's past, and those who ain't afraid of no ghosts.

Rated: G (Contains humor and content perhaps over the heads of children under age 9; images and discussion of murder, ghosts and gun play)

Bored with a career solving elementary cases of whodunit ad nauseum, the World's Greatest Detective is offered an intriguing proposition from the Holy City's concerned citizens. The theory: that every career criminal starts with a single, often minor first act of crime. And so in order to protect the good law-abiding citizens from themselves, Sherlock Holmes accepts the most challenging role of his storied career: as Charleston's Greatest Meter Maid. But when a member of the infamous Charles Townson family is murdered, the master of logic finds himself drawn into a Low Country case of mystery, history, spooks and specters.Join Sherlock Holmes for a Historical City Tour truly for the lazy — where without ever leaving your theatre seat you will explore Charleston's past, present, and ... other worldly ... and where, should you choose to volunteer, you may actually play a victim, villain or vile vision in The Case of Sherlock Holmes and the Charleston History Mystery!

I’m proud to announce that we have once again renewed our golf club trade-in program with Global Golf. Through our partnership with Global Golf, we can accept your old clubs as a trade-in for purchases on any merchandise through the golf shop. The value of the clubs that you wish to trade-in can quickly be looked up online by our golf shop staff. Once we assess the value of your trade-in, we can apply that amount as a discount off of any purchases in the shop. However, your purchase must exceed the value of your trade-in. We will not provide credit or cash back for any trade-in transactions. With the acquisition of extensive Demo Product from Ping, Titleist, Cobra and Taylormade, as well as other manufacturers, we can also accurately custom fit you for your new set of clubs. The custom specifications can then be applied to any manufacturer to ensure the proper fit for your orders. We encourage you to take advantage of these services to help you play better and save money along the way.

Madison’s Instructional CornerWe have all had those tricky side hill lies out on the course; it is very rare that we find ourselves on a perfectly flat lie. So here are a few tips to keep in mind next time you find yourself with a tricky lie. There are four different slopes you might encounter: the uphill lie, downhill lie, and the side hill lie with the ball either being above or below your fee. There are two stance adjustments you must keep in mind when you find yourself in one of these spots. They are to let your eyes follow the slope and to get the shoulders parallel with the slope angle. Also need to make sure you swing with the slope of the ground.

A few other things to keep in mind is that if the ball is on an up slope it will tend to flight higher so best to use a club with less loft and when the ball is on a downhill slope best to choose a club with a little more loft. With side hill lies where the ball is above your feet the tendency is for the ball to start out right of the target and move left, with the opposite happening when the ball is below your feet starting out left and moving right. So try to keep these tips in mind next time you go out and play and it never hurts to practice with these different lies on the driving.

We still play at 9:30 am for the 18 holers and will continue through May when we will switch to 8:30 tee times. Please contact Judy D’Ambrosio regarding nine hole start times. We had 12 women participate in the Member-Member Tournament on April 27-28. COOSAW CREEK COUNTRY CLUB13

First Quarter 2013 QUARTERLY BOARD OF DIRECTORS LETTER

The Club has completed another successful year. Our nancial stability puts us in the top 7% of the clubs in the nation as most clubs are failing. Home sales exceeded budget, member participation has increased and we continue to improve club amenities. These achievements, in part, were due to the ongoing

support of the members and revenue generated from outside play on the course and events held in the club facility. Coosaw Creek Country Club has always been a Club where the Members pitch in to help on maintenance of the facilities which help our overall nancial status. Over the past few years members have painted the walls in the Club, installed the Chair Rail in the dining room, installed the tile in the Men’s rest room, helped with repairs and paint in the kitchen/bar area, painted the leader board, walked the fairways and repaired all the divots and there are many other items where the

members gave their time to have a premiere Club. That is what makes the Club

successful and gives the Club the opportunity to progress. When you play golf

you see the name of a member on each hole, and that member volunteers to assist in the maintenance of that hole . We all appreciate those who care

enough to pitch in!

The Board of Directors completed the 2012 year and held the “Annual Equity Members’ Review Meeting” and the election of 3 new Board of Directors to a

three year term . The newly elected members to the Board were: Blair Crawford, Bill Moore and Tonya Martin; three new members that bega n their

service on the board immediately. At the same time the President, John Bennett, after completing his presentation of the Annual Equity Members’ Review Meeting completed his time as the longest serving President of Coosaw

Creek Country Club. During his tenure the Club progressed from near

COOSAW CREEK COUNTRY CLUB14

bankruptcy to a nancially secure Country Club. Our Financial Security has allowed the Club to make progress in all areas of the Club. We appreciate John’s leadership during the past 6 years.

The new Ocers elected to lead the Club in 2013 are: President: Aubrey Bell, Vice President: Kit Graves, Treasurer: Marion Phillips, Secretary: Ira Marshall . The needs of the community are important to all board members and they welcome your communications. The Board of Directors has also established a dedicated email address for members to provide information or questions to the Board of Directors regarding the Club. If you have questions or requests for information about the Club, Please send an email to [email protected]. The BOD will attempt to provide written answers or address the issues directly with the member if appropriate. The request must always have the Member’s name and their email address included in the email. The Board will not respond to anonymous letters. Feel free to use this method if you see something that needs attention. The Club also has various committees that many members serve on and help with the management of the Club activities. The committees are; the Financial Oversight Committee, the Membership Committee and the Property Stewardship Committee that includes the Ad Hoc Golf Committee. These groups are all managed by volunteers that spend their time assisting the Club in managing the activities of the Club. They range from nancial review, planning activities and amenity to maintenance and upgrades of the facility . It is obvious that Coosaw Creek Country Club is managed and assisted by those that have enough interest in the Club to dedicate a sizeable amount of time working for the Members. The Club also sends out numerous email blasts every week to all the members that have given their email address to Karen Vaughn, ([email protected]), plus a monthly Newsletter that is emailed to all members.

The Board of Directors then summarizes the activities of the Club in February every year by presenting reports, nancial information, Annual Budget,

Membership numbers and other important business as may be properly brought before the Annual Equity Members meeting.

The Board also has a web-site that provides much information to the members at www.coosawcreek.com. You can contact Karen Vaughn if you need assistance logging into the web-site. This site contains the ocial documents as well as the schedules of club activities, the newsletter and other communications. It is also the location of the Coosaw Creek Country Club Property Owners Association, which is a separate organization that manages the streets, security, emergency management group, common grounds areas, drainage and other utility areas.

The Board is dedicated to maintaining communications with the Members.

The Club will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of Coosaw Creek Country Club on July 4, 2013 with Fireworks and a Community Celebration. Plan to attend and celebrate!
