THE DYERVILLE GIANT The Dyerville Giant’s crown isnow in pieces, but its final height has been estimated at 375feet. It had a circumference of 52 feet, four inches and a crownspread of 74 feet and weighed more than a loaded 747jumbo jet (1,000,000 lbs). Even for those who saw it when itwas still standing, its size is difficult to comprehend. TheDyerville Giant was recognized as the “Champion” CoastRedwood as certified by the American ForestryAssociation until it fell on March 24, 1991.Experience it during your visit to the Founder’sGrove, just north of Weott, south of Redcrest offDyerville Loop Road. This world-famous scenic drive is an alternate 31-mile country road which parallels and intersects Hwy 101 with

its 51,222 acres of magnificnet redwood groves. It is by far the most outstanding display of these giant trees inthe entire 500 mile redwood belt and is easily accessible with convenient services provided along the way. TheAvenue of the Giants is surrounded by Humboldt Redwoods State Park which has the largest remaining standof virgin redwoods in the world. Take time to picnic, camp, hike, swim, fish, raft, bike ride, or simply experiencepeace in the cool hush of these ancient old growth forests.
