Loan defaulters that are facing bankruptcy proceedings however fell. Lanco Infratech Ltd was down as much as 8.5% to Rs2.15, a record low, after it said it was one of the companies that had been identified by the RBI to start bankruptcy proceedings. Shares of Monnet Ispat and Energy Ltd fell as much as 19.9%. The Nifty Pharma Index was down as much as 1.08% as ongoing quality concerns raised by the US Food and Drug Administration pressured pharma stocks. Cipla Ltd, the biggest drag on the pharma index, was down 2 percent. Shares of Lanco Infratech scaled fresh all-time low of Rs 1.93 in early trade after the company on Saturday said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has directed its lead lender IDBI Bank to initiate insolvency proceedings for the company under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (IBC). Shares of Swelect Energy, Simplex Project, Keynote Corp, Sutlej Textiles, Eon Electric, Indowind Energy, Dredging Corp, Magma Fincorp, Centum Elec, Naga Dhunseri Group, Indian Hume Pipe, Goa Carbons, KIOCL, Jayant Agro Org, Munjal Auto Ind, Magnum Ventures, Maha Seamless, Karur Vysya Bank, Astral Poly Tech and Phillips Carbon hit their fresh 52-week high in Monday's early trade on NSE. The Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) is set to tighten rules on participatory notes (P-Notes) at a board meeting on June 21. Sebi had last month proposed to ban P-Notes from being issued against derivatives for speculative purposes except for hedging over concerns that they may be used as an avenue for roundtripping of funds to evade the crack down on black money. Not everyone is happy with this. Oil prices fell early on Monday, weighed down by high supplies despite an OPEC-led initiative to cut production to tighten the market, reported Reuters. Signs of faltering demand stoked weak sentiment, prompting price levels comparable to when the output cuts were first announced late last year. Brent crude futures were down 11 cents, or 0.23 per cent, at $47.26 per barrel while WTI crude futures were down 11 cents, or 0.25 per cent, at $44.63 per barrel. The Dow Jones industrial average closed at at record high on Friday, while the Nasdaq closed lower amid tech shares selloff. The Nasdaq Composite Index closed down 13.74 points, or 0.2 per cent, at 6,151.76, to end the week 0.9 per cent lower. The Dow finished up 24.38 points, or 0.1 per cent, at a record 21,384. News: Bankers are meeting from Monday to finalise their next course of action

on six of the 12 bad loan accounts for immediate referral to NCLT after the RBI named the largest defaulters to face bankruptcy proceedings.

The first set of six troubled accounts are Bhushan Steel (Rs 44,478 crore), Essar Steel (Rs 37,284 crore), Bhusan Power and Steel (Rs 37,248 crore), Alok Industries (Rs 22,075 crore), Amtek Auto (Rs 14,074 crore) and Monnet Ispat (Rs 12,115 crore), a banker said.

According to RBI, these 12 accounts owe Rs 2.5 lakh crore to the system, which constitutes around 25 per cent of gross bad loans.

The other accounts named for bankruptcy action, according to bankers, include Lanco Infra (Rs 44,364.6 crore), Electrosteel Steels (Rs 10,273.6 crore), Era Infra (Rs 10,065.4 crore) Jaypee Infratech (Rs 9,635 crore) ABG Shipyard (Rs 6,953 crore) and Jyoti Structures with a defaulted loan of Rs 5,165 crore.

The regulator has already shared the list of 50 biggest defaulters with the central government. The list included companies such as Bhushan Steel, Bhushan Power, Lanco, Videocon, Jaypee Group, Essar, ABG Shipyard, Punj Lloyd, Electrosteel Steels, Aban Holdings, Monnet Ispat, Prayagraj Power, and Era Group. The stressed assets of Indian banks are likely to increase to 15% of total loans by March 2018 amid rising requirements for regulatory capital until 2019, S&P Global ratings said in a report recently.

IPO Watch –

Tejas Networks' subscribed nearly 1.9 times on Friday, with the company receiving bids for 3.21 crore shares, compared with the 1.71 crore shares on offer.

Central Depository Services (India), whose initial public offering opens today, raised Rs 154 crore by allotting 1.03 crore shares to anchor investors at Rs 149 per share.

Eris Lifesciences subscribed 0.12 times on its first day Friday, as the company received bids for 18 lakh shares as against 1.59 crore shares on offer

The week will be crucial for the spread of the monsoon rains into areas important for crops like soybean, cotton and rice.

Finally, the roll out plans for the GST. The government said it's committed to implement GST from the scheduled date of July 1.

Cadila Healthcare: FDA Nod

Shares of the pharma company rose 2.39 percent to Rs 538.1 after Zydus received a final approval from U.S. drug regulator for its anti-migrane medication.

The drug, Eletriptan Hydrobromide, will be produced at its manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad. The stock returned 4.9

percent so far this year and a loss of 9.5 percent in the past 52 weeks.

Bajaj Auto: Three-Wheeler Relief Shares of the two and three-wheeler maker rose as much as 3

percent, intraday, the most since May 11, after the Maharashtra government removed a cap on taxi and auto-rickshaw permits, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

About 20 percent of analysts covering the company have changed their price targets over the past month (7 up, 3 down, 39 unchanged), Bloomberg data showed. The stock returned 8.5 percent so far this year and a gain of 11 percent in the past 52 weeks.

Tata Steel: Stake Sale Boost Shares of Tata Steel Ltd. rose as much as 2.1 percent to Rs

510.25 after its parent company said it will buy Tata Motors shares from the steelmaker worth up to Rs 3,825 crore.

The proposed stake sale would let the steelmaker reduce some of its Rs 72,367 crore debt.

The stock was among the top five best performers on both the Sensex and the Nifty indexes. With today’s advance, it also managed to break a 3-day losing streak.

The stock has returned 30 percent so far this year, compared to a 10.6 percent advance in the S&P BSE Metal index.
