Closing Bell: The Nifty 50 closed higher by 69 points, or 0.76%, to 9,154 while the BSE Sensex rose by 188 points, or 0.64%, to 29,586. The gains, which tracked Asian markets, came after the Fed stuck to its outlook for two additional rate increases this year after lifting its overnight interest rate by 25 basis points on Wednesday as had been expected. Pennar Engineered Building Systems, a subsidiary of Pennar Industries, has announced receipt of orders from Hetero Drugs, Amplus Energy Solution, MELPL, S G Pharma, Shahi Exports and others of totalling Rs 152 crore. ABG Shipyard shares were locked at 5 percent upper circuit at Rs 21.35 after Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group company showed interest in buying company's assets. Faced with declining volume growth and high competition, global FMCG giant Unilever has raised concerns on the performance of its Indian unit Hindustan Unilever (HUL). Unilever has even discussed several measures, including a revamped incentive structure for distributors, to throttle slowing sales and thrust volumes back in 2017. HCL Technologies is its top pick in the large cap Indian IT services space as the company has been striking a good balance between payout and merger & acquisition investment. "This is an excellent scenario for emerging markets. We did not get an acceleration of rate increase which the people feared could happen from Fed meeting. It looks like Fed wants to increase rates, but is little nervous," Geoffrey Dennis, Head of Global Emerging Market Strategy at UBS. Steel volume growth and cost savings will drive 90 percent EBITDA growth over FY17-19, it feels. Larsen & Toubro Ltd shares rise 1% to Rs 1,565 after the company said its arm Larsen Electrical won Rs 500 crore order from Qatar rail. Ashoka Buildcon Ltd shares rise 5.6% to Rs196.45 after the company said its arm Ashoka Concessions Ltd has submitted bid of Rs1,190 crore for National Highways Authority of India project. Jewellery stocks trade higher. PC Jeweller Ltd shares rise 7.3%, Titan Co Ltd shares 1.7%, Gitanjali Gems Ltd shares 3.4%, Tribhovandas Bhimji Zaveri Ltd shares 4.4%. Cadila Healthcare Ltd shares fall 1.5% to Rs442.60 after ET reported that its Baddi facility gets Form 483 with three observations. Suzlon Energy Ltd shares rise 7.3% to Rs18.30 after huge block deal. Around 4 million shares of the company changed hands in two block deal, according to Bloomberg report. However, details of the buyers and sellers were not known. Transport Corp of India Ltd rose 5.6% to Rs 235. The stock gained for the third sessions. So far this year it gained over 57%. Mandhana Industries Ltd hit 5% lower circuit for the sixth consecutive sessions and it fell over 26% in this period. So far this year it fell 41%. Mandhana Retail Ventures Ltd gained for the seventh consecutive sessions and surged 29% in this period. The stock rose 4% today and so far this year it gained 18%. United Spirits Ltd fell 1.3% to Rs 2237.75 after rating firm CLSA has downgraded the stock to sell and kept its target price to Rs 2100 a share. HCL Technologies Ltd shares rise 2% to Rs856.95 after the company said its board to meet on 20 March to consider buy-back of shares.

News: Promoters of Krishnapatnam Port have approached potential investors to

raise up to Rs1,500 crore in structured debt to buy out the stake held by 3i Group.

Waaree Energies Ltd, one of India’s largest solar module manufacturers, has appointed consulting firm EY to raise around $100 million.

The difference between WPI and CPI inflation, which was merely 25 bps in November last year, has increased to 290 bps in February this year.

Inflation as measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) surged to a 39-month high of 6.55% in February. On the other hand, retail inflation rate measured via the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was at a comparatively much tamer 3.65% in the same month.
