YOUTH HUMOR OF THE WEEK

The CCD teacher was teaching her students in class about the nature of sin and that there were two kinds of sin, both mortal and venial sin. This was leading up to the children’s going to their first Confession. She then asked the class, “Can you tell me what we must do before we can expect forgiveness of sin?” Johnnie raised his hand and she said, “Yes, Johnnie? And Johnnie said (Drum roll) “We must first...sin!”

And the teacher could only smile :)

Dear Parishioners:

Lent is fast approaching! Sorry for those who are looking forward to some chocolate sweets for St. Valentine’s Day, but this year the 14th is Ash Wednesday. Don’t worry, those sweets will be even better if you save them until the next day or maybe even Easter! Are you working on that personal plan for Lent? I hope so and remember there are many opportunities here in the parish to help make this Lent the best one yet. Some things you may want to include in your Lenten plan: Daily Mass, which during Lent will be followed by the public praying of the Chaplet of Di-vine Mercy; Tuesday Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, with Benediction at 6:30PM every week; Stations of the Cross every Friday at 7PM; confes-sions from 6-6:45PM each Friday; a daily visit to the Blessed Sacrament; making use of our parish sub-scription to Formed, a fantastic Catholic website, re-member all you have to do is go to formed.org and use our parish code: 6MT3PW, from there you can create your own username and passcode; come to our Sunday Lenten presentation and discussion, on the second to fifth Sundays of Lent from 11:30-12:30. And remember that we have our Parish Lenten Mission, Our Restless Hearts Need God’s GPS From Here to Eternity! with Fr. Denis Wilde, OSA, from February 18-21 at 7PM each evening. You can get daily reflections for Lent on the Formed website and we’ll also have some booklets available. There is al-so a weekly program on Formed for preparing to par-ticipate in Mass every Sunday, I’d recommend you check this out. This program offers reflections on the readings and personal (or small group) prayer guides for the whole week. Well, that is certainly a lot to keep us moving during this Lenten Season. I pray that it will be for all of us a season of great grace and renewal in our identity as disciples of our Lord. I pray that our parish will become even more centered on the real presence of Our Lord in the Holy Eucha-rist. Every week I will offer my personal Formed “pick of the week”. This week it is “Guadalupe, the Miracle and the Message”, which you can find under Docu-mentaries, and was produced by the Knights of Co-lumbus. Check it out! Peace Fr. Adam

PASCHAL CANDLE If you are interested in memorializing our annual Paschal Candle, please contact Cindy in our Parish Office at: 610-845-2460.
