Vertical Machining Centers
About Morrison Machine Tool GroupThe Morrison Machine Tool Group is dedicated to the success of our
manufacturing Customers throughout the world. We provide a full
line of Machine Tools including Vertical Machining Centers, Horizontal
Machining Centers, Horizontal Lathes, Boring Mills, Vertical Turning
Centers, and Specialty Machines. Our machines excel in Quality, Power,
Speed, and Accuracy and are priced to provide an exceptional value to
our Customers. Our team of experts in engineering, manufacturing,
applications, service and support have been trained to bring the
latest advanced manufacturing technologies to the shop floor of
our Customers.
Our technologies are used on a variety of materials including Titanium,
Steel, Aluminum, Ceramics, Glass, Composites, Wood, and Plastic. We
also are experienced in working with a variety of industries including
Automotive, Aerospace, Medical, Off-Road, Energy, Defense, Electronics,
Consumer Products, Music, and Job Shops.
We have a team of experienced distributors throughout North and South
America with engineers that can provide solutions in machines, fixturing,
and tooling that will result in better quality, less scrap, and ultimately a
lower cost of your manufactured parts.
Our VMC’sOur Vertical Machining Centers are designed for power, speed, and
accuracy. We utilize high performing components designed to minimize
downtime and increase productivity.
We also use durable meehanite castings FEA Finite Element Analysis for
increased rigidity and vibration dampening. Each machine model has
been designed with high performance and safety standards.
We also offer both Fanuc, Siemens and Mitsubish controls with all
models to allow customers the flexibility to using three high-speed
control platforms.
We also offer options to increase the performance of our machine tools.
High Speed Spindles, Rotary Tables, indexers, and Probes can be added
to each of our machine models.
SpindlesOur precision spindles have been designed for high quality and reliability.
We utilize superior quality components including high-rated bearings
and precision machined drawbars and housings. The spindles are
assembled in a clean-room environment with numerous in-process
checks and an extensive break-in period. All of our spindles are cooled
to allow for minimal heat growth and maximum up-time. The cartridge
design allows for easy replacement with either a new spindle or a quality
remanufactured spindle.
Double Nut BallscrewsMorrison Machine Tools are made with world-class ballscrews insuring
high accuracy and high reliability. The ballscrews are pre-tensioned to
minimize heat growth during normal operations. The double nut design
also eliminates backlash. Our technicians also utilize Renishaw Ballbar
Analysis to insure ballscrew performance and accuracy. All machines are
lasered at the factory as part of the assembly and final quality control.

High Performance Tool ChangerThe Morrison Machine Tool Group knows that a fast reliable tool changer
can make you more competitive and lower your part cost. We utilize two
types of tool changers in our vertical machining centers.
Our 30-Taper Turbo Tap 510s comes standard with a high-speed
Turntable Tool Changer to provide our fastest tool change.
All our machines come standard with a 24 Position Dual Arm Automatic
Tool Changer which allows for fast reliable tool change for larger tools.
The Dual Arm ATC is also designed to keep metal chips away from the
tool magazine.
Choice of ControlsThe Morrison Machine Tool Group utilizes digital Fanuc, Siemens and
the Mitsubishi M70 controls to provide micron resolution accuracy, high
speed processing, extreme reliability, and user flexibility.
The Fanuc 0iMD Control utilizes Fanuc’s world famous Contour Control
software allowing for user defined high-speed machining. The control
look ahead allows the user to maximize feed rates on complex mold and
point-to-point programs without compromising part quality. The Fanuc
0i Control 14-Year Mean-time between failure also ensures high up-time
for your CNC.
The Siemens 828D Control utilizes Siemens NURBs Technology to
ensure high speed accuracy. The Siemens control features one of
the fastest processors in the industry allowing for quick calculation
of maximum speed and feeds while processing large programs. The
control also features Siemens ShopMill programming for easier
programming on the Shop Floor.
The Mitsubishi M70 Series CNC offers high-level CNC functionality in a
compact unit. This control dramatically reduce cycle times, while retaining
high-accuracy and high-speed. Features include NaviMill for simple shop
floor programming, auto-tuning, high-speed synchronous tapping, and
ethernet data transfer.
Spindle Oil Cooler All Spindles from Morrison Machine
Tool are chilled to ensure long-life and
low heat growth. The reliable low
maintenance chiller system will keep
your spindle at a common temperature.
Reducing heat in the spindle reduces
thermal growth on the spindle which
will help keep your machine producing
accurate parts.
Heat also can cause premature spindle
failure. The cooler keeps the spindle
housing cooled to normal temperature.
By controlling this temperature, the
spindle bearings, seals, and drawbar will
last longer and perform better.
Rotary ProductsAll of Morrison Machine Tool Groups Vertical Machining Centers can
easily accept all styles of Rotary Tables at no charge to the customer.
This means any rotary table or indexer can be easily added in the field.
Morrison Machine Tool Group and our Distributors provide a wide selection
of high quality rotary tables at competitive prices.
We offer a Full Line of Optional Assessories for your VMCMorrison Machine Tool Group provides many accessories which can
make your Vertical Machining Center perform at a high level to meet your
needs. Customers can add Chip Conveyors, Probes, Robots, and Material
Handling Systems to every one of our VMCs. Because we utilize world-
class Fanuc and Siemens controls you can be confident that optional
accessories can integrated into the control with no affect on machine
speed and performance.
