The proposed project would place a tower and an equipment shelter at the site. Table 1: Morongo Communication Site Surrounding Land Uses The site is located in a rural area of the San Gorgonio Pass area. The most prominent land uses in the area are electrical transmission lines, gasline easements, and the freeway that threads through the two- mile-wide pass. A small, recently constructed sewage treatment facility is located southwest of the site on the adjacent Morongo Indian Reservation. The western extension of the San Gorgonio Pass windmill farm begins approximately 1 mile southeast of the site. Topography and Vegetation The site is located in a relatively narrow portion of the San Gorgonio Pass. The foothills of the San Bernardino Mountains lie approximately 0.50 mile north of the site, and the San Jacinto Mountains lie approximately 1.50 miles to the south across Interstate 10. The site is on a gently sloping alluvial fan that emerges from Lion Canyon in the San Bernardino Mountains. The site is relatively undisturbed. The vegetation consists of a dense, tall-growing, creosote scrub plant community. The plant species on site include creosote bush, ephedra, brittlebush, snake cholla, and California barrel cactus. Land Ownership and Applicable Habitat/Land Management Plan The site is privately owned and managed, and is subject to the CVMSHCP. The site is not located within any designated Conservation Areas. Road Access An access road runs northwards from Seminole Road to within 200 feet of the site. A short spur road will need to be constructed to access the site. Morongo Communication Site

Overview

Commercial Power Access

Commercial power is available from a pole line that runs parallel to Interstate 10, approximately0.25 mile south of the site. A pole line will need to be extended from the existing facilities to providepower to the site.
