Learning for all at Morgan Street
It was a wonderful week at Morgan Street during Week Two as we celebrated NAIDOC Week. We deliberately moved our celebration of NAIDOC Week to later in the year to ensure that we gave the week the full respect that it
deserves.
This week sees our Kinder Orientation and Year 6 to 7 transition fully commence. It is an exciting time for both groups, no doubt also a little daunting as it is means change and quite a few unknowns. As a school we need to ensure that we fully support this. Successful
transitions will ensure smooth starts.
We are well underway with our plans for next year. To enable us to plan with as much certainty as we can, can you please let the school know if your students will not be returning
to Morgan Street PS next year. We will treat all discussions confidentially.
Have a wonderful week of learning!
Thought for the week: “The principle goal of education in schools should be creating men and women who are capable of doing new things, not
simply repeating what other generations have done.“ ~ Jean Piaget Scott Sanford Principal
If families would like to donate to the Ulysses Toy Run, new toys/games
can be left at the 3-6 and K-2 office. Toys will be picked up on Friday
30th November 2018 at 10.15am.

On Friday at the NAIDOC Assembly we unveiled our entry
for the NAIDOC Banner Competition which was designed
and painted by 6M. The banner was displayed at the
community NAIDOC celebrations which was held at Sturt
Park during the school holidays. Although we do not think
we won the competition, we think it looks pretty amazing.

What’s happening in 4W? LETTERS — In Term 3, 4W
wrote letters of support to
Ms Wagner’s brother, Guy,
and his platoon who are in
the Australian Army and
currently serving in
Afghanistan. Guy sent us this
photograph when they
received their letters. They
hope to write back to us soon but we understand they are very busy.
PAPER RECYLING — Earlier in the year, 4W introduced paper
recycling to MSPS. So far, you have all helped us fill the big bin three
times! We think the system is working well but we would love to hear
from you. Please write down any feedback you have and pass it on to
us.
You might notice this logo around the school. It was
designed by Kate Stacey to help remind people to
recycle.
DROUGHT FUNDRAISER — In Term 4, 4W are completing ‘Genius
Hour’ projects where everyone gets to choose their own topic to learn
about. As part of Maddie’s project, she has decided to hold a cake
sale in Week 4 to raise money for the farmers affected by the
drought. 4W are going to give her a hand but please let her know if
you would like to help support this important cause. Stay tuned for
further information!
