Greetings everybody. Wasn’t the Fete fantastic! I had the opportunity to speak with many of our school community as I wandered around and it is only fair to say WELL DONE to all of the people who organised, created stalls, sold items, counted money and gave our community a night to remember. As I wandered I was able to observe well oiled operations, selling food and drinks and also some amazing stalls with items unexpected. My immediate thoughts on seeing the cake stall was “there is no chance that all those cakes will get sold”. An hour and a half later – empty tables. Phenomenal. The second hand/white elephant stall was truly amazing too. Any number of good Christmas presents crossed my mind as I looked over all the donated items. And of course the talent show where careers were born…..
Well done everybody and thanks again for supporting the Morgan Street Fete.

Sun safe Morgies!
The weather is heating up again, and it is good
to see students are wearing their Morgan
Street bucket hats in the playground.
This is part of ‘playing safely and sensibly’,
which is one of our school rules.
Part of being ‘sun safe’, is to also make sure
you are wearing sunscreen and drink water
throughout the day.
If you need a water refill, you can fill your
water bottle up at the bubblers. The best time
for this is at lunchtime, so make sure you get
your water bottle ready before you go back to
class!

Life is busy in 3C - lots of
learning and lots of fun!
CHECK OUT THE CHICKEN IN 3C!
You might not know it, but just behind our classroom is a chicken coop where a rooster lives. When we are working quietly, he often likes to interrupt. He did this a lot when we were practising our poem for the
Eisteddfod. Mrs Calder would say ‘let’s practise that part again’ and she would count to three. Right on cue, the rooster would make a loud
cock a doodle do! right in the middle of it! We did not invite the
rooster to watch us perform at the Eisteddfod. We are proud to say we came second on that day. We spent our prize money by eating $25.00 of
hot chips from Rags. YUM!
We have become very good at working in groups in 3C. We have learnt to share our ideas and responses, and talk about what we have learned. Look
at us in action below!
New things we have been learning in 3C are: How to use bullet
points in writing.
Identifying key words
when reading texts. Team roles in science
lessons: Manager, Speaker, Director!
Reciting Poetry.
Watching B.T.N.
New techniques in art
with Mrs Loomes. Writing paragraphs
(like a boss!). Trading in maths. Making cross sections
of bean seeds in science.
Learning to use the
student portal in library lessons.
Alien maths - a game
to help us learn our times tables.
How to tell the time
using our classroom clock.
Getting lots of ‘D’s off
Mrs D in dance and drama.
How to use cursive
letters in handwriting. Playing games by the
rules and with good sportsmanship.
Realising we can
learn from our mistakes - sometimes these are the most powerful lessons of all!
