This Dame and doyen of percussion has a vision: ‘to teach the world to listen’. And so far she’s done a damn fine job—collaborating with the likes of Björk and Oscar the Grouch (on Sesame Street, mind you), and leading an army of one thousand drummers at the 2012 London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. Here in Hobart, she’ll continue her quest—complete with marimbas, drums and more.

Getting Around
Most of Mofo is at Mona, about twelve kilometres north of Hobart. Your best bet, if travelling from the city, will be taking a ferry or bus from the Brooke Street Pier (Franklin Wharf). But be warned: this isn’t any old bus/ferry terminal. Not only will Mona-bound transport depart regularly from here, but for Mofo 2016 the Brooke Street Pier will transform into a venue itself, playing host to a variety of performances from jazz, to percussion, to a bevy of mystery music programming. Even better, it’s also within walking distance of all our city venues.
Tina Turner ain’t got nothin’ on this bus stop.
A return bus or ferry ticket (on sale Tuesday 1 December) will cost you $20, or you can buy a three-day return pass for $45. There is no parking on-site at Mona between Friday 15 and Sunday 17 January.
Or get some exercise (you know you need it!) and ride to Mona along the intercity cycleway. Plenty of bike parking in Berriedale.
See mofo.net.au for timetables.
In addition to the festivities at Mona, you’ll also find a heap of ticketed and free events around the CBD. See mofo.net.au for full program details.
