Engadin St. Moritz What mountains! What space! What light!Breathtaking panoramic vistas, the seemingly endless expanse of the lake-strewn Engadin plateau and the exceptional quality of the light combine to enchant visitors from all over the world. The inspiring glacier village of Pontresina is a very appealing incentive and conference destination in the Alps. The unspoilt natural landscape of the Upper Engadin forms an unrivalled backdrop for a host of outdoor activities and different events. All this combined is what makes the Engadin St. Moritz region the perfect setting for meetings, incentives and conventions.

Pontresina Alpine. Natural. Authentic.Pontresina is considered one of the most appealing holiday and meeting destinations in the Alps. It lies at 1800 m a.s.l., in a wind-protected side valley of the Upper Engadin. Its guests come to recharge their batteries – in the pure, dry air, the agreeable climate and the 320 days of sun it has to offer each year. Pontresina lies at the foot of three glaciers and Piz Bernina (4049 m a.s.l.). Pontresina fulfils all requirements for conducting medical con-gresses in Switzerland and takes official guidelines very serious-ly. Contrary to other congress destinations, where participants have to share the limited room available to them with business visitors, Pontresina allows delegates to focus succesfully on the congress they are attending, sheltered by mountains. As a general rule, congress participants simply have no time left for other activities.

Getting there by train is a unique experienceSpectacular viaducts, mysteriously spiral-ling tunnels and sophisticated pieces of civil engineering, all perfectly embedded in a unique and untamed landscape: the rhaetian railway’s Albula/Bernina line connects Thusis with Tirano via St. Moritz, covering a distance of 122 marvellous kilometres, crossing 55 tunnels and pass-ing 20 municipalities. The railway line is well-known around the world especially for its viaduct perched 65 metres above the Landwasser river near Filisur. The line’s steepest incline is 70 ‰, climbed by trains without any rack assistance. In 2008, UnESCo added the rhaetian railway’s Albula/Bernina line to its list of World Heritage Sites, making it only the third railway line worldwide to be “of out-standing universal value”. In cooperation with rhaetian railway, Pontresina offers special rates for train tickets available to congress organisers and participants.

Arriving by carA good alpine road network puts Pontre-sina within easy and comfortable reach of northern Switzerland, the Ticino, Italy or Austria. Good to know: the Convention and Event Centre Pontresina has its own parking garage with 180 spaces.

Arriving by planeConvention and seminar venues must be quick and easy to get to, also by air. The Engadin is home to Europe‘s highest-al-titude airport – and customs services. Engadin Airport, and thus the Engadin St. Moritz destination, also offer inter-national fl ight connections. And the bird‘s eye view of the Engadin when fl ying over its majestic alpine peaks and passes is a memorable experience indeed. Flights are operated from the international airports of Zurich, Geneva, Milan and Munich. Air taxis can be booked for numerous other national or international connections to the Engadin.

Sela Arabella auditoriumSela Arabella is the heart of Pontresina’s Convention and Event Centre. It affords splendid vistas of the val roseg glacier world. The spacious room is ideally suit-ed for conventions, meetings, banquets and other events. With its large stage, extendable on request by a catwalk, and its comprehensive technical installations, it is equally well adapted for product presentations and shows. And just as important: the suspended wooden ceiling construction provides excellent acoustics. Classical concerts at the Sela Arabella benefit from the “heavenly” sound. Counting the Galeria Salomé, Sela Arabella has a maximum seating capac-ity of 500 in conference style, or 190 in schoolroom style. The kitchen is located directly behind the auditorium. The great advantage: fast banqueting service for up to 250 persons. And when even more guests are expected, the back wall can be opened up to include the Foyer.

Specifics: · High windows the full length of the room looking out onto nature, with blackout blinds

· Wooden flooring · Built-in sound booth · Three built-in simultaneous translation booths

· dimmable lighting, “starry heaven” · Flexible stage lighting · Large projection screen (projection surface of 7 × 4 m)

· Full-surface back-projection roll screen on the stage

· Hoisting platform · direct stage access from two artists‘ cloakrooms

· Movable back wall
